presentation of the 125 VARADERO XLV 2014

alone in its niche for a good many years now, the 125 Varadero is still going strong, defending the trail bike's chances in the 125 segment. A beautiful machine, expensive, rewarding, ready for the road, but a little heavy for its (excellent) little 8-liter V-twin. Honda has not missed a beat with this version 2 of the 125 XLV. The more elegant and aggressive design suits this new model very well. A touch of CBR 125 in the optics, Transalp 650-style shoulders blending curves and taut lines, beautiful CBF 600-style lights, a very nice, complete instrument panel - it's beautiful, sexy, complete; and what's more, it's equipped with PGM-FI injection.

like the 2007 CBR 125, the engine now features fuel injection. That's the only change to this 15 hp mill. A very good engine that doesn't fall short of the mark, but with 169 kg of wet weight to tow, the twin-cylinder starts to struggle a little. You'll have to ride it like the old one: push it into the revs to get the most out of it. Let's be satisfied: the Varadero, with its fuel injection, is Euro 3 compliant and should improve fuel economy.

for a small (and heavy) GT à la carte, Honda's options allow you to prepare the Varadero for travel:
- A large 45-liter top-case designed to be installed on the original package carrier via a key-operated fastening system.
- A set of heated handles with temperature control.
- A center stand
- An aluminum handlebar trigger guard for a more adventurous look.
- A large resin boot to protect the engine from front-wheel projections.
- A U-shaped anti-theft device designed to fit easily under the passenger part of the seat.
- A preformed cover that protects the machine from rain and glare.

Compare the 125 VARADERO XLV to its competitors

Bikers' reviews Leave a review - 64 reviews

Varadero 125 2008
French Jac19 Model 2016
I've had a TDR Yam, which fired like hell but sounded like a moped (great contrast), and I've had the Vara, which sounded like a big motorcycle but had the energy of a moped (I'm exaggerating a bit). But compared to the TDR, I found that it had no nervousness at all. A comfortable, reliable bike that swallows up KM without a problem. I've managed to get it up to peak speeds of 130 x several times, even though I'm not a fan of full speed, preferring to enjoy the ride, very good roadholding, very maneuverable for its size, very good looks. No problems apart from changing the usual fuel consumption. I enjoyed it, but I don't regret it because of the sluggishness of the engine. I bought it second-hand, so I can't talk about the price, which was exorbitant for those who bought it new Rating : 4/5
think CRIT'AIR
French Model 2014
the very first (with carburettors) were Crit'air 4; then, still with carburettors (but I don't know what year), they were upgraded to Crit'air 3. and finally, since 2007 and the switch to fuel injection, they have been Crit'air 2 Rating : 5/5
Honda Varadero 125 DX 2011
French Wika82 Model 2016
Bought almost a year ago with 7000 kms only - 2011 black DX injection. I've already covered 6000 kms and I'm enjoying this little Varadero which benefits from unequalled quality of materials, good looks, good driving and good visibility thanks to its height.

Engine: so well maintained "indestructible", swallows kms and kms nicely without showing any fatigue, thanks to the liquid cooling doesn't heat up at all, its ideal speed 80-100 kms and in my case max top speed 125 kms, on the fuel consumption side when the warning light comes on reserve 530 kms with 17 lts (I drive peacefully).

Comfort: super comfortable and easy to handle, the only downside is that for long distances it's preferable to buy a comfort saddle. This summer I rode 850 kms south, and yes, the original saddle wasn't made for such a trip; I had to add LED bulbs, a gear indicator, warnings and a double USB socket. In short, if you're looking for a motorcycle to "ride", travel and "enjoy" the road over any distance, thanks to its versatility, don't hesitate: the Varadero 125 is the right choice!

An excellent mini-GT: comfortable, safe, impeccable handling, safe and fun on the road, great looks, fun to ride as a duo. A perfect bike for touring, for those who don't put speed and acceleration first. I'm a fan! Rating : 4/5

2008 model, soon to reach 120,000 km, it's ageing rather well! fuel consumption is now around 3.6 liters and I don't spare it (often to the tune of 4 or 5) Rating : 5/5

i own a 2008 varadéro 125 injection. 29000 km on the odometer. my last road trip was from near Aix les bains to the belgian border at mont noir. about 1000 km without the freeway. 2 days on the road, 1 day back. conclusion: at least 400 km of range and still some left (faulty fuel gauge). comfort super, road holding idem, braking impeccable. i pushed it to 127km/h on gps,,i have a 56-liter top case, two 21-liter givi panniers and a tank bag, all well filled for a week.
as a result, i don't want to pass on the A2 any more, because she loves long trips, and so do i. the maintenance costs are a real plus for small budgets, and you get very attached to it very quickly. the aesthetics (change: everything switched to led, 2 x usb charger, speedometer) give it the look of a 600cm3. it's like my wife: when you love her, she's the most beautiful... it's rugged enough to take me solo in the mountains (the alps), even at 80km/h max uphill, and I love it. as a 125cc tourer, you can't beat it!
Rating : 5/5
French
You say you've gone full led, that's what I'd like to do too! I just bought a 2008 Varadero with 4000 km, and according to the RT, it's H4, and all the tutorials I've seen indicate BA20D! Hence my question: what type of bulbs are these? Thanks! Rating : 5/5
French
yes, the bulbs are BA20D, which is less common than H4! double-filament halogen bulbs (hence the 2 studs at the base of the socket) are replaced by LEDs, which are naturally whiter (cooler) and light up a little better without being transcendent! Rating : 5/5

French Model 2014
I bought my Vara in December 2014, I have driven 16,700 km. No problems whatsoever. Ideal for nice rides, we do 200 km without any problem and without particular fatigue. Beware of wind resistance, especially with an extra top case. Above 6,000 rpm, the engine becomes pleasant, with punchy acceleration (before, a little hollow). Very comfortable. I wouldn't change it for any model currently on the market. Too bad it didn't survive Euro 4. Rating : 5/5

i'm the proud owner of a 2007 varadero 125, and even as a duo for a ride to the beach, it's great. on a day-to-day basis, as long as you stay on the main roads, it's enough for those like me who have the A1 and those who have the 2-year B license and the 7-hour training course. What's more, this machine is very economical (3.7 per 100 km), even when ridden as a duo. This little bike has a very good reputation for sturdiness, and it's not uncommon to find a used one with over 60,000 km! Rating : 5/5

really a great bike, very comfortable and ultra reliable! i've owned it for 5 years and have covered almost 50,000km without the slightest problem! top speed varies between 115 and 130 mph depending on conditions. have a look on the 125 attitude forum, they have nothing but good things to say about it! Hi, I bought a 2007 Varadero fuel-injected model a month ago, second-hand. I love this bike, good handling, almost the size of a 600, speed-wise, I can easily reach 120kmh, I haven't had the chance to break 130kmh yet, but I'm thinking about it. Ideal for two-up riding, although I lose speed at 110kmh in a straight line (me 75kgs, my mate 82kgs), but there's plenty of room for the passenger.

I'd say it's a good training bike before taking the big cube test. Bonne route à tous.

for the rear-view mirrors, you need to invert the rods (180°)

you gain between 5 and 8 cm on each side, for my part the mirrors are in line with the outside of the left and right handles, the rods are about 160° from the horizontal

60 years old, I got into motorcycling. when I saw the Varadéro, I said to myself, this is the bike I want. I found one in 2014, 13500 kms, 2 months that I've had it, nothing but happiness. I ride quietly, but I go mostly in the mountains, it climbs quite a bit, unless it's a bit too much. on the plain, in town, impeccable.
comfort, design, a bike that makes you look. it's top-of-the-range, white, with the tank covered in light gray imitation.

I've owned this brand-new moped for almost 2 years now, and I have nothing but praise for it. It's a must-have in its category. After a perfect and patient running-in period, 17,000 kms later, the engine is now completely free. Top speed of 120 kph with no worries, or even 128 kph on the freeway in very good conditions, but not beyond, as the cut-out calms the engine's and even the driver's ardor. Riding is demanding, because to get the most out of the machine, engine speed must always be between 9,000 and 11,000 rpm.
I'm often out with the big boys, and they're all surprised to see me sucking on their wheels, or even dumping them on bumps and corners. They're all unanimous in thinking that I've tampered with the bike: well, no! With the right bike and the right handling, you can work miracles.
Packed with options (Honda top case, heated grips, handguards, wheelwash, engine cover, rear-view mirror extension, Devil carbon pot, high bubble ... ), I'm proud to ride this bike: I'm really showing off!
In conclusion, this bike is incredible.

Hello everyone, get your license guys! Cost: license 1100 euros, 600 d\'occasionase 1500,2000 euros. Price of a Varadero...?
I had a 125 Varadéro...frankly, nothing to do with a "big cube". Now I ride a 650 kawa.
By the way, I took my driving test at 57 and got it right the first time.
All that to say: go for it, guys, don't be afraid, and you'll have the pleasure of riding a real motorcycle.
Unless, of course, 125 cm3 is enough for you. Baboune,128 km/h...I really can't believe it...but maybe....

Varadéro pour petit ?

Hello,
I own a CBR Honda 125 CM that I'd like to change for a new Varadero. I've heard nothing but good things about it, especially in terms of reliability
My problem is that having been able to get on it, without trying it out, I haven't found a dealer offering a test ride! My small size means that only the tips of my feet touch the ground; I'm 1.65 m tall
I'm told that there's a lowering kit that would reduce the seat height by about 2cm?
Has anyone fitted such a kit?
Without this seat height, it's a bike that really appeals to me!
Thanks to anyone who can answer my question.

Model from 2002 and bought in early 2003 and still present. Periodically serviced by Honda and Kawa dealer and never had a single breakdown, just my turn signals are a bit messed up at the moment (well, the button), otherwise very good machine.
ps: for info, if I had to change bike, well, I don't know, maybe between the Yam 125 MT, the Daelim RoadSport or a Vara, I'm hesitating.
Otherwise, the Vara is a machine to buy with your eyes closed, no worries.

Hello enthusiasts!
2012 model equipped with original top case, GIVI side cases, SW-Motech side guards, additional lights (Dafy), Travel Edition engine mount, tank bag (Dafy). Michelin Trail tires. In short, fully equipped for the long haul!
I always ride my Vara from 01/01 to 31/12, whatever the weather.
Always respect the 5-minute warm-up time before riding. No wild acceleration when cold. Tires warmed up in all weathers.
Honda-standard maintenance.
My Varadero returns this attention without ever flinching:
Range on charge 350km and 300 in duo.
Range unladen 450km, 400 in duo.
Top speed close to 125 kph on freeways, with a clear preference for speeds respected on main roads, country roads and country lanes.
The Varadero is not a racehorse, but a perfect walker for everyday use in any situation and for all-distance travel. For me, the Vara is a state of mind.
Already 48,000 km without the slightest worry or fuss.
and the respect of the purists around me, some of whom ride the big trails of the famous German, Austrian and British brands...

I bought my Varadero new when I moved house in June 2008. Today, October 15, 2014, eight years later, I've just passed the 100,000 km mark
And it's still going! No worries, the only major repair was the front disc at 98,500 km and the starter button that was stuck, which I had to change. Also at 98,500 km. And my fuel consumption? 3.3 l/100 km from the start. 60 km/day, including 40 on freeways and 20 on the Paris ring road. A pearl, my Varadéro!

French varadero Model 2011
contrary to those who always find something to criticize, this bike is a super bike, a little soft when there is wind (from the front or side) but it takes its 120 125 K H it is easy to handle, and comfortable, and does not consume much, it is an excellent machine that I recommend to all those who want a 125. Hi to all bikers, and good road jean paul. Rating : 5/5

First of all, this motorcycle was surely created by a god, this Varadero is superb, beautifully designed, puncture-proof, reliable in all weathers, very economical since I ride almost 478 km a week on a full tank
i have almost 40,000 km on the odometer and no problems whatsoever

i bought a varadero in 2007, because I was fed up with taking public transport to Meaux. I'm 62 and I think it's really great. I do 100km a day and my fuel consumption is barely 3 liters, going from 90 to 110 kph. Rating : 5/5

i've owned a vara de luxe for 15 days now, and I haven't had any problems getting used to it. It's really a very good bike that's reconciling me with 125s, because I used to have a custom gilera, and I didn't use it because I didn't enjoy it, whereas with the vara, I'd spend all my time on it! I don't regret my purchase, even though it's still an expensive bike! but at 55, you can still enjoy yourself! Rating : 5/5

I bought the new varadero (January 2008) after driving 20,000 kms with the old model. More powerful, quicker, better gearbox ratio, especially 4th and 5th, top speed 10 km/h higher (around 120 when driving well with the 4th gear pushing up to 110). One small regret is the inefficient mirrors and the rather unpleasant engine noise. For the record, I'm 58 years old and I love this bike. Rating : 5/5

i owned a varadero for 2 years, and i was very satisfied with it, 70% city use and the rest on main roads. For professional reasons, I took a scoot. but it's not that, in January I'm buying the new one (luxury version please) and I'm not even waiting for the first tests. I'm 50 years old and this bike suits me perfectly ....
salut a tous et bonne route

Quite frankly, the makeover is a tad tame... Better to find an old second-hand one

What a beautiful bike!! thinner than the old one, even if the base must be the same
i love it, I think 2007 will be the year of the Varadero for me, the purchase is planned for March, I'm just waiting for the 1st tests and yes, I'm 1M87, so on my XTR, I feel a little cramped
