presentation of the CBR 1100 XX Super Blackbird 2006

at the end of 1996, Honda presented the first machine capable of topping the 300 km/h mark. A minor revolution, for in creating the TGV supercar category, the world's leading manufacturer also unveiled an aesthetic success combined with unprecedented aerodynamicsit also boasted unprecedented aerodynamics (inferior to that of a 250 GP), a super-powered engine that was particularly smooth and torquey, and very (too) well bred: the mechanics offer little feel and no vibration. The chassis is superb: smooth, efficient suspension, highly effective dual-CBS braking, a generous perimeter frame - the Blackbird offers the agility of a 750 while delivering mind-boggling performance. In 1999, it inherited forced-air intake and fuel injection, offering enhanced flexibility and riding pleasure, although protection was too limited, the rider's position a little too sport-oriented and that of the passenger moderately user-friendly. It also saw the emergence of 2 formidable rivals: the Suzuki 1300 GSX-R Hayabusa and the Kawasaki ZX-12 R, boasting even more impressive power figures. But the CBR 1100 XX proves to be almost as efficient, while preserving a certain ease of riding, comfort and homogeneity that its rivals can't boast.

Spanish nostalgico Model 2001
I had the CBR xx from 2001 to 2013 when I sold it to buy a Hayabusa. When I think of the Honda xx, I get excited. It was my best period as a biker. I did thousands of kilometers with it, I took the most beautiful girls, it was the best time of my life and it was with this bike. The Hayabusa GEN2 also gave me some good times, but without a doubt the Honda CBR xx gave me joys that I don't think I'll ever find with another bike. Now I have the Hayabusa GEN3, 2021, and it's good, but the first feeling I had when I rode my ex cbr1100 xx for the first time was indescribable. I come from the custom world and I bought it because they let me try it out. From that day on, I didn't want anything but big cucumbers. What a great time! Don't think I'm doing badly, on the contrary. I've got several bikes, an expensive car and I'm doing well, but there's a time for the great love of motorcycles, and that's when you're young. It wasn't cold, it wasn't hot, it wasn't bad weather. The weather was always perfect for riding, and the cbr xx took me wherever my dreams took me. And what beautiful girlfriends I had back then. How they clung to my waist on that bike. If I ever get a bigger garage, I intend to buy all the bikes I had when I was young. Greetings in V! Rating : 5/5

Apart from the inevitable stator-voltage regulator-battery duo/trio (if you're unlucky) (although these are wearing parts), it's an excellent bike, very reliable, well-built, timeless and even appreciated (it was even stroked by a young woman and photographed by a man totally fascinated by this model!) In short) Anyway, I owned the 1999 model (PGM-FI injection), 164cvx from the factory, bright red and a double carbon exhaust from FRC (French brand, now defunct). Having owned it for a good year, and having covered a few thousand miles with it (it had 83,000km when I bought it, and 86,000 when I sold it), I'd say that its only major fault is its fuel consumption of easily 8l/100km, without being crazy about the handle! So the cost of fuel is tough (I can't imagine what it would be like with a deep-seated lunatic slamming the throttle!) The loss of a star on my final score is due to all these factors: minor electrical problems and greedy consumption despite smooth driving... That's it! Otherwise, nothing to complain about. No overconsumption of tires (BT32 GT), no overconsumption of chain, no overconsumption of oil; nothing serious in itself! Rating : 4/5

I have exactly the same red 1999, and I fall in consumption between 6.5l/100 AND 7.5L/100 my distance record 280km, and no big problem I have it since 2012 and I put 70,000km Rating : 5/5

I've just bought a Honda 1100 CBR XX, which I'd been wanting to own for years. After 20 years of VFR riding, I wanted to rediscover Honda comfort with its Dual CBS braking system. I'm also riding a 2017 Africa Twin 1000, which is also a pure joy. To come back to the 1100, it's a beautiful machine, with a brilliant blue color and a LOT of horsepower in the engine. Rating : 5/5

I've just bought a CBR after having had a Kawa 1200RX, it's a good bike (unbridled), a machine to get the points jumping, for me the big problem is the heat it gives off in the legs, when the weather's fine it's barely bearable with jeans, you have to wear leather pants; otherwise it's a great machine Rating : 5/5
French glopglop91 Model 2000
GSXF750 from 2002, 50,000km, Fazer 1000 2002 sold at 111,000km then this CBRXX from 2000 bought in 2018 with 23,600km. 40,000km to date, rear tire every 5,000km, ditto front, Hyperpro mounted in front and Shock-Factory behind. Everything else is original

Heavy at rest, weighed by me at 259.5kg with anti-theft device, a few knick-knacks. Externalized regulator with electric fan, runs on 100% E85 with a 5€ modification since its 25,000km, double-curved bubble

Qualities: maneuverable, lively, engine that pushes hard at all revs (205cpt at full 3), integral braking that makes everything easy, large fuel tank (important because today's sports bikes are equipped with water bottles!), real horn, center stand, speedometer graduated up to 320 km/h

Weaknesses: comfort (dry), straps too tight (I spread them as wide as I could by filing the handlebar stops, so I could touch the dashboard while steering hard), passenger sliding on the front (original saddle), very supportive position (more so than a 2001 gsxr1000), waddles a bit when riding like a pig, lighting code bad when cornering

This winter, when it's really cold, I'll be adjusting the valves and changing the brake pads. Of the 3 bikes I've owned, this is by far the best, because it's the most accomplished. Sometimes, before selling the Fazer 1000, I'd take it (the FZS) and feel like I was on a trail bike with a soft frame and weak suspension. In the early days, the CBRXX reduced the feeling of speed, so I was always coming in too fast

I switched to Rosso2s (good), Contiroadattack2s (not bad but more GT), SporsmartTTs (excellent), Power RS+s (very good) and now, for winter, Sportsmart MK3s (very good). I used to ride angel gt2s, too lively for this machine. I sold them

I think the bike is well made, serious and built to last. When you buy a 20-year-old bike, even one with so few kilometers on it, the quality shows.

French Tiboune Model 2000
I'm quite surprised by the comments about comfort. I'm very satisfied, even as a duo. In fact, it has a comfort saddle, so that's to be expected. I've been riding it for a few years now, and haven't spent much money on it: stator, battery, rectifier/regulator, spark plugs, tires, brake fluid change, a water pump and, coming soon, a Honda chain kit (less expensive than an adaptable chain kit from a well-known brand...), so it's just routine maintenance. What a bike, what a pleasure! What a feeling! Yes, it's heavy, very heavy, but that's the only complaint in my humble opinion, and that's all. However, despite its weight, the brakes are up to the task. Fuel consumption is reasonable. Insurance, too, as it's considered a GT and not a sports car, despite its engine. The reliability of this type of machine needs no further proof. In conclusion, I have no intention of ever parting with this wonderful bike. Maybe I'll buy another one on the side, but I'm keeping this one! Rating : 5/5

French XX du 62 Model 2004
I bought my XX in 2009 with 17300 Km it has been ten years that I drive
i've already driven over 100,000 km without any major problems
reached 119,200 Km and she's running like clockwork
it's the duo ride the passenger's legs are too high, especially when she's
she's over 1m700, normal fuel consumption between 6 and 7 liters and still
well-priced second-hand, which is starting to be rare

Hi there,
j'ai 48ans, Ma 3eme moto, apres 1 vara 125 et un cbf600, j'ai ressenti la même différence en passant de la 125 au 600 que du 600 à la cbr, rien a voir, tu tournes la poignée ca part ... attention en duo elle à une facheuse tendance à lever (modele 2000 en full) en 2, limite en 3, déconseillé pour jeune donc ca prend 200 tresss vite (3eme), sinon freinage sans abs mais couplé et ca freinage tres fort ! not very comfortable maneuvering (stop/half-turn) but as soon as it's rolling it's ok, the pressure on the forearms is a bit of a flaw (quick numbness of the right hand to be expected) otherwise the original saddle is quite comfortable, no back problems either, for the SDS the footrests are a bit too high. in short, happiness :)

Une moto ou TGV sur route ?
French FredoVS Model 2007
Hello, 2 years ago I bought this magnificent 1100 XX. A used one with 14\'000 kms. And to date 67,000 km. Never any problems, one battery changed and 1 chain kit. And of course tires, oil change and normal checks. Engine very present in full. At 6,000 rpm, she's giving it all she's got. A little heavy at standstill (take care when manoeuvring). I do quite a bit of mountain biking and many freeways in Germany and Holland from Switzerland. Impressive top speed, very reassuring, top braking etc... perfect apart from handling when stopped. Never taken a passenger (I don't like them). A bike I'd recommend, and one that's still going strong in 2015... no problem! And a hell of a finish!!! Rating : 5/5

I've just passed the 100,000 km mark...with no major worries. Just a tension regulator at 100,000 km, a chain tensioner changed at 80,000 for safety. The rest: oil change every 5,000, tires, brake pads and 2 chain kits. All in full, across Europe...

i bought this bike in 2000 and sold it to 1 friend in 2004 for 24,000km because of money, telling him the day you sell it to let me know, if I have the money I'll buy it from you. He sold it to me this week with only 29,000km. I rode it with my girlfriend and she tells me she's never seen anything like it grow so much, I'm thrilled, it's the must-have after 24 bikes and 64 banks. Not for everyone. Rating : 5/5

i would like to know the positive and negative points of the 1100 XX compared to the CBR1000F

Rating : 2/5
Hello,

The XX is an excellent choice. The bike is very homogeneous, with suspensions that provide great comfort. The engine's availability is exemplary, but it's very linear
Beware, it's a missile that masks a lot of speed. Without realizing it, you're going fast, very fast. It's also a big baby that needs to be taken along in tight bends. You can't improvise like with a VFR.
Strengths: an engine that's always full, an exemplary chassis, top-notch braking... light years more efficient than the CBR 1000 F
Weaknesses: average protection, substantial weight, tire budget and full license trap.

Linear engine, power and torque... a real potato! must-have braking.rear shock absorber... 55,000 km on the odometer, regular maintenance... A word of advice: treat yourself, try one out (in moderation...)
