We've all heard of the PW50 - the first bike for kids, the rudiments of cross-country, the introduction to motorcycling adventure. It can give ideas. Even at Indian, which is now adding an electric motorcycle for youngsters to its range with the release of the new eFTR Mini.

The parallel with the PW ends there. The Yam is a real cross-country bike in miniature. The Indian is closer to a toy than a motorcycle. But by taking advantage of the same styling as the FTR 750 race bike, the eFTR wants to give younger riders the illusion of being a member of the Indian Motorcycle Wrecking Crew, which dominated flat track in the 1950s and has won every championship since its return to the sport in 2017. It features a tubular steel frame and two power levels allowing kids to start learning in slow mode and increase performance as they gain confidence.

The eFTR Mini's 468 mm seat height accommodates riders from the age of eight in low mode, and 13 and over in high mode. The eFTR Mini has been designed around an electric powertrain of unspecified power. Its rechargeable 24-volt battery has a range of 30 minutes and can reach 22.5 km/h in high mode and 16 km/h in low mode. The machine is equipped with disc brakes, a rigid fork and an equally stiff frame-swingarm assembly.
