presentation of the VN 800 Classic 2000

the custom wave has enabled the category to renew itself with gusto, which has benefited the medium-displacement bikes. The VN 800 immediately made a name for itself when it arrived on the market. Although hailed as a benchmark, the arrival of competition from the Suzuki Marauder 800 and Honda Shadow 750, not to mention the Yamaha Drag Star 650, could have given it a few grey hairs. But don't worry, the Kawa has a lot going for it. Starting with its smooth, torquey engine. It's long and responsive, and outperforms the competition. But where the VN is most attractive is in its design, which mimics post-war Harley style. Big front wheel, imposing fork sleeves, copious mudguards, double seat and pretty tank... It looks like something out of an American factory. Even the air filter cover looks like it came from a Harley. Since we like this style, we might as well take advantage of it, right Mr. Kawa!?!!

French Mamie Moto Model 1997
I bought a classic 1997 VN in November 2024, what a great bike for cool riding! I already had a 1996 with almost 100,000 km, which I sold (yes!) to buy a new Kawa 650 Vulcan, an excellent bike by the way, but I sold it to buy this 1997 VN again! I love the sound of a carburetor engine ......! I'm older than my bike, so the 2 of us get along just fine! (almost 68 years old) Rating : 5/5
French Lulupoalocu Model 1996
Super bike that I've just bought! Minor bodywork restoration but top-notch mechanics! Reliable, strong, easy to handle! Correct fuel consumption - ideal for leisurely rides! A great bike for its time! Good rides to all tchao Rating : 5/5
Petit souci d'alimentation essence ..,?
French jojo30 Model 2001
Hi, I bought it about a year ago, but I don't drive much... it had 5200 kms on the odometer, it spent 20 years in a garage. now it has 5950 kms. it sometimes makes me a whim, full tank after about 20kms it wants to park (when you overtake, it's a pain) I put the tap on reserve and it starts again....a few kms later I turn it back to ON, and a few kms later it starts again...if I open the tank it seems to work fine...pfff! so from time to time I put a paperclip through the hole in the cap, but it's not really the solution... I'm not a mechanic, if you have any ideas I'd love to hear them...Thanks!

French Model 2000
Great bike for touring and even everyday use. Not too thirsty, around 6l/100, easy to handle, comfortable (bober mount), timeless look, it has a lot going for it. The only drawbacks are that it's hard to get to the engine, and the power is a bit low for my taste when you're coming off a 750 Four... Be careful in traffic circles, you're liable to create sparks with your exhausts, otherwise it's a great bike, and a reliable one at that. Have a good ride! Rating : 4/5

I have a 1997 kawa 800 VN, what a wonderful motorcycle not for speed, the pleasure of being a biker, style, reliability, and 5.5l per hundred km at ease. I made the right choice by combining it with my life, the old fashioned way, yes I'm 58 years old.bises a vous. Rating : 5/5
on peut compter sur cette moto.
French didier Model 1996
Hi everyone!
i'm 59 years old and I've owned this beauty for 15 years
This bike is timeless, I do all the mechanical maintenance, I'm often told when I park (I live in a town of 12,000 inhabitants in the southwest) that my bike is beautiful, people say wow! she super your bike! it's a harley? grrrrr .... Nah! it's outdated Harley... I just tell them it's a Kawasaki vn classic (the chrome is shiny but not overdone) and its original look turns heads on the streets
I'm still as happy with it as the first day I got it. What's more, it's not too heavy, and doesn't guzzle too much petrol, in short, I'm really delighted with it. To part with it... not even in my dreams! thank you!

French Nanou Model 1999
We are looking for a custom motorcycle for
A young A2 license holder, the Kawasaki looks pretty good to us, and above all, it's got a nice look
On the other hand, we are looking for information on maintenance and reliability
The ads we are seeing suggest motorcycles from 96/98. Does this seem reasonable to you?

Thanks for the information, we're novices

What a pleasure, yes, but when it takes 5 hours to clean the spokes of the rear wheel with a toothbrush, mine from '95 in red and white was very nice but the chrome. I took over a yam xjs 900 Diversion, also a very good tourer which took an hour to wash and I could drive in all weathers, the kawa only drove in summer. Rating : 4/5
