presentation of the ER-6n 650 2016
although sales are gradually eroding, the Kawasaki ER-6 remains a strategic model for the brand. After the Z 800, it is Kawa's best-selling model. This means that any modification to this roadster is not to be taken lightly. That's why, during the previous redesign in 2009, the ER-6n was only lightly but subtly reworked.
for the 2012 - 2016 version, Kawa has taken more risks while preserving the essentials. Design-wise, this version follows the trend of its lineage. Immediately recognizable, it has changed a great deal. The fork head has lost its fangs and taken on a more bio-mechanical appearance. As has become fashionable, the front part of the fuel tank is now made up of the airbox cover. The hoof is now sharper in design, the radiator scoops have got rid of their indicators, and we can even guess that whiskers have grown under its cheeks, creating protective covers for the fork tubes.
more incisive in its design, the 3rd-generation ER-6n has also worked on ergonomics and ease of use. And yet, this friendly little roadster was already defending itself very well. A double-decker seat provides added comfort, while a new instrument panel fits between the handlebar arms. Stylistically, it's certainly the bike's least fashionable feature. But it marks the return of a good old-fashioned needle-type rev counter, and is enhanced by new functions such as remaining range, instant and average fuel consumption, and an economy indicator.
does this mean that the ER-6n was born under the banner of austerity? Far from it. In fact, it's more of a bubbly machine. The twin-cylinder engine has been tuned to deliver more torque at low revs and in the optimum operating range. Power has been smoothed down low to soften the twin's character.
Let's move on to the ER-6's biggest evolution: its chassis. Kawa has given its 650 roadster an all-new double-tube steel perimeter structure to enhance the dynamism of its toy, and perhaps a little to make up for the few cases of frame cracks that have appeared. It almost looks like a Triumph Street Triple frame. The swingarm has also been replaced by a double-tube element. The rear shock absorber is still positioned and offset in an original way. As for braking, the two front petal discs are more than sufficient for both urban and recreational use. After many years of dominance in its segment, this Kawa must now share its leadership with the Yamaha MT-07. There's no end in sight to the bickering between these two little galoshes, which will enchant new and seasoned bikers alike. Now we're waiting for the ER-7 to take over. Even if the 650 doesn't fall short, age is an enemy in this segment.

Bikers' reviews Leave a review - 16 reviews
i found a mayonnaise-like deposit at the bottom of the coolant tank on the right side of the bike. Is this normal? Rating : 4/5 Respond to doume
The bike is light and maneuverable, with a small size compared to the competition.
It's smooth to ride, with a pronounced two-cylinder engine (even at 35kw).
The seat is fairly comfortable for a roadster, and of a suitable size for a passenger.
The finish is decent, with small details such as a wheel washer, a shoe and fork tube protectors that make the difference.
The original Dunlop twin-tire is correct.
Lighting quality is very good.
I took the ABS model, with optional extras: raised windscreen (nice on long rides), engine protection pad (top-blok), short plate holder, LED indicators and Akrapovic line (a big plus for sound).
After three days on the road (Ain/Haute-Savoie) and 650km of riding pleasure, I have no regrets about opting for this Er6n. Rating : 5/5 Respond to VinceER6n
I see that in the characteristics of the motorcycle, it is noted that it is accessible to A2 licenses because
- it's from 2012 and makes 72hp (i.e. 53kW)
- it can be clamped
However, the regulations state that the power/weight ratio must not exceed 0.20 kW
In our case, 53/200kg = 0.26 kW/kg
So, can an A2 license still drive this bike?
(Being in this case, I'm asking myself a lot of questions to find a compatible bike)
Thank you
Sincerely
Stéphanie G. Rating : 5/5 Respond to Stef

Very, very easy to use, with a very, very good power-to-weight ratio for a beginner.
Correct instrumentation (I'm a fan of the blue backlight :D) and a comfortable new saddle (no more rotten er6 school bike saddles that hurt your back in 30 seconds).
