well, let's forget the trip to Caracas or Timbuktu. With its 296 cm3 twin-cylinder engine, the Versys-X has no plans for Grand Touring. But its 40 horsepower are up to the task.
Where this Adventure version comes into its own is in its extra equipment. And its duo of 17-liter suitcases. There's room for a hearty picnic, but not enough to set up a bivouac... But do you want adventure or not? The kind that makes your hair stand on end and you shiver under the stars.
However, it would be unwise to square off the bike. Hence the protuberant usefulness of side crash-bars. A spill can happen so quickly on muddy trails...
Hand guards are a welcome addition to the look, as well as providing extra protection. The tank is also protected from a few scratches by a gel appliqué.
And to provide evening assistance after a sweltering stage... or to quietly grease the chain, a center stand completes the Versys-X 300's Adventure package.
this accessorized trail bike doesn't seek to transcend frontiers, but it's capable of distilling the scent of adventure into everyday life. Whether you're packing up the day's gear or heading out to the edge of the trail, it's got what it takes. But the price remains high for a displacement category that is struggling to find its audience.
