presentation of the 450 EXC-F 2027
The 450 EXC-F enters the Open class with a renewed determination to push the limits. With its benchmark chassis, rock-solid suspension, race-proven bodywork, and rider-focused ergonomics—not to mention one of the most successful 450 cm³ engines in the class—the Katoche is ready to take the track with its sights set on the podium.
Setups
The KTM Enduro lineup features tool-free suspension adjustment at both the front and rear. At the rear, PDS technology incorporates high- and low-speed compression settings that can be adjusted by hand in just a few seconds. Up front, the fork is just as easy to adjust thanks to the adjustment knobs located at the bottom of the fork leg and on the upper cap, allowing you to fine-tune the settings on the fly as naturally as you twist the throttle.
Air Filter Housing
The air filter housing is designed to ensure maximum airflow while limiting water intrusion. The precise positioning of the intake ducts prevents turbulence and effectively protects the filter. Beneath the housing, an enduro-specific splash guard prevents water and mud thrown up by the rear wheel from reaching the filter, while the Twin Air filter and its mount use a simple and secure mounting system for quick and precise installation. The result: tool-free access to the air filter for quick maintenance on the side of the track.
Fuel Tank
The transparent polyethylene (XPE) fuel tank is an iconic feature of the KTM Enduro lineup. Race-proven from GNCC to the most extreme FIM Hard Enduro events, it’s built to take a beating. A one-piece fuel pump with filter manages the fuel supply, while easy access to the filter further simplifies maintenance.
Controls
To the right of the handlebars is a sleek start/stop switch; to the left, the optional Map Select selector allows you to choose between Map 1 and Map 2.
Engine
The 450 EXC-F’s single-cylinder engine perfectly exemplifies the advanced engineering techniques developed on the track and brought to dealerships. Weighing just 29 kg, this engine is as powerful as it is lightweight and delivers race-ready performance.
CPC Fuel Connector
A cap protects the CPC fuel connector on all models. It prevents dirt from entering the sides of the connector, prevents accidental opening, and also protects it from impacts by branches or rocks. The small fuel filter located in the hose remains in place and is easily accessible.
Cooling System
A radiator fan is standard equipment on the entire KTM EXC and EXC-F lineup.
Quickshifter
With the optional Quickshifter, clutchless upshifts become the norm. The system interrupts the ignition for a fraction of a second, allowing riders to shift up without engaging the clutch, even with the throttle wide open. Technically, a sensor located on the shift drum detects the force applied to the shift lever, sends a signal to the ECU, and cuts the ignition to engage the next gear. The Quickshifter can also be deactivated via the Map Select switch and is active only from 2nd to 6th gear.
Traction Control
Navigating wet and muddy terrain becomes much easier with the optional Traction Control feature. TC analyzes the rider’s throttle input and the rate at which engine RPM increases. If the RPM rises too quickly, the EMS detects a loss of traction and reduces the power sent to the rear wheel. The result: maximum traction. And of course, the feature can be disabled to maintain full control.
Offroad Control Unit
The Offroad Control Unit, or OCU, is located under the seat and replaces all electronic fuses and relays. All outputs are continuously switched based on signals from the voltage regulator and the ECU. In the event of an overcurrent, the outputs are deactivated individually. Diagnostics are simple: the status of each output is indicated by a red or green LED. On the trails, identifying an electrical problem is as easy as lifting the seat—no need to carry around finicky fuses.
Selectable Map Settings
Designed for intuitive use, the Map Select selector is available as an option on all KTM EXC models and allows you to easily choose between two unique engine maps. Map 1 offers standard power delivery that is more linear and predictable, while Map 2 has a more aggressive character, with a livelier throttle response and more direct, explosive power.
Battery and Wiring Harness
Like the rest of the EXC-F 4-stroke lineup, the 450 EXC-F is equipped with a proven and reliable electric starter system. Powered by an ultra-lightweight 2 Ah lithium-ion battery, it ensures reliable and consistent starts every time you ride. The wiring harness groups most components under the seat for easy access.
Ergonomics
The KTM Enduro lineup features a rider-centered ergonomic triangle, offering better contact around the knees—especially when standing on the footpegs—and optimized contact surfaces all around. The plastic bodywork helps shed mud buildup in wet conditions; the flat seat with a high-grip cover promotes freedom of movement and control; and the polyamide-reinforced aluminum rear swingarm offers unmatched feel and feedback.
Exhaust
To give the 450 EXC-F even more bite, the exhaust system is designed to deliver punchy performance at the lowest possible weight. The two-piece header features an ultra-compact design and runs as close as possible to the engine, ensuring maximum mass centralization and minimal exposure to rocks. At the rear, a short, compact silencer made of lightweight aluminum features a premium matte black finish.
Frame
Specially engineered to provide optimal longitudinal stiffness, the KTM Enduro lineup is built around a black powder-coated frame, ensuring exceptional rider feedback, excellent energy absorption, and high stability at high speeds. This is achieved through the repositioning of rotational mass within the frame and a forged steering head. The footpeg mounts also feature a slim design to minimize the risk of snagging.
Rear Loop
An ultralight rear loop is mounted at the rear of the main frame, featuring a two-part construction combining polyamide and reinforced aluminum. Thanks to numerical simulations, its stiffness has been precisely tuned to deliver exceptional handling and direct rider feedback. Compact in design, it can bend and flex in the event of a crash rather than break, while fully integrating the electronic components without unnecessary brackets, tabs, or fasteners.
WP XACT Closed Cartridge Fork
A 48-mm WP XACT Closed Cartridge spring fork ensures fast and consistent damping, with optimized oil flow. The result: top-level performance in all conditions. Fork seals also limit dirt intrusion. And best of all, compression and rebound can be adjusted entirely without tools.
WP XACT Rear Shock
A true hallmark of KTM Enduro machines, the PDS rear shock concept improves the chassis’s anti-squat performance. It remains the most reliable and easiest-to-maintain solution for competitive Enduro. At the rear, a lightweight WP XPLOR PDS shock absorber takes over.
Wheels and Tires
The 450 EXC-F features high-strength GIANT alloy wheels, paired with CNC-machined hubs and aluminum nuts. They are fitted with ultra-grippy Maxxis MaxxEnduro tires, delivering exceptional traction in all conditions.
Stability
The KTM Enduro lineup remains exceptionally stable at any speed, thanks to a forged and repositioned steering column and CNC-machined fork crowns. Made from high-grade aluminum, they offer optimized steerer tube stiffness, perfect alignment of the fork tubes, and precise clamping geometry, resulting in a supple and responsive fork action—with the added bonus of unwavering stability on ultra-fast, full-throttle special stages.
LED Headlight
To illuminate the road, the KTM Enduro lineup features an LED headlight assembly with a headlight cover. The cover improves protection for the fork crowns against debris and eliminates the need for rubber mounting straps, ensuring a more precise fit. Most importantly, the LED unit provides powerful lighting that completely transforms night riding.
