presentation of the 450 EXC Six Days 2013
the 450 EXC "READY TO RACE" for the world's biggest enduro championship, the famous "International Six Days Enduro". Six days in a row, over a thousand kilometers of terrain, 40 hours in the saddle: this is not just a challenge for the rider. The 2013 KTM 450 EXC can be prepared with a whole range of top-of-the-range accessories for this exceptionally tough race, at the start of which, every year, half the riders bet on KTM. 450 EXC Six Days - the only genuine KTM factory orange frame.
cylinder head
The SOHC cylinder head features an overhead camshaft that drives titanium intake valves and steel exhaust valves. The entire configuration has been optimized for Keihin's EFI system to enhance the handling and performance of the 2013 KTM 450 EXC Six days.
electronic fuel injection / Electronic engine management
Keihin's Engine Management System with electronic fuel injection and 42 mm (1.65 in) throttle valves delivers spontaneous, powerful throttle response and maximum performance. Automatic temperature and altitude compensation are state-of-the-art. With the optional Map-Select-Switch (PowerParts), you can easily select different engine characteristics.
clutch
The clutch housing with timing gear is machined from a single piece of high-strength steel. This guarantees unprecedented reliability and, thanks to its compact, rivet-free design, contributes to the finesse of the engine. It also allows the use of thinner steel plates, making the whole clutch even more compact. An elastic washer enables additional hub damping - an invaluable advantage in terms of traction and gearbox durability. The Brembo hydraulic clutch and spring washer guarantee easy, controllable progressiveness.
frame
In keeping with KTM tradition, frames are made from high-quality, lightweight chromium-molybdenum steel. Combined with a PDS damping system at the rear, they are designed to perfectly absorb any shocks the rear wheel may inflict on the frame. Contrary to the trend towards aluminum frames among our competitors, we supply high-tech steel frames that weigh around 0.5 kg (1.1 lb.) less than the lightest frames on the market. What's more, our frames are easy to maintain and leave more space for the fuel tank and other components.
brakes
Brembo brakes are standard on KTM off-road bikes, with lightweight Wave disc brakes for optimum performance in terms of progressiveness and stopping power. The improved rear brake cylinder features a new design that ensures less wear on the rubber seals, and therefore longer life.
swingarm
From 2013 onwards, all KTM EXC models feature a lightweight aluminium-moulded swingarm, directly connected to the PDS shock absorber at the top. The aluminum casting process produces a one-piece swingarm with unlimited geometric possibilities, while reducing any defects caused by welding work. The swingarm has been designed to offer the desired flexibility while assisting the suspension, and without compromising torsional strength.
fork
KTM Six Days models benefit from a completely new 48 mm (1.89 in) Closed Cartridge fork from WP Suspension. This new patented 4-chamber WP technology (4CS) not only offers decisive advantages in terms of response and damping consistency, but is also lighter and much easier to maintain than conventional closed cartridge models. This fork will tackle the most insane trails and obstacles with ease. Another advantage: with just a few clicks, you can easily adapt the fork to the track and the rider, at the top of the fork: compression on the left side, rebound on the right.
wheels
KTM wheels with CNC-machined hubs of proven quality come as standard. GIANT's new aluminum rims, made from extremely robust 7050 aluminum, now feature the exclusive 6 Days logo. The new MAXXIS FIM tires, specially designed for KTM, offer excellent grip, precise handling and long life.
fork crown
All Six Days models feature one-piece milled fork crowns, finished to the highest standards. Not only do they look remarkable with their orange anodizing, but they are also designed to optimize the response and damping regularity of the new forks, for a final influence on the bike's overall behavior.
fuel tanks
the slim 9 l (10 qt.) fuel tanks are made of lightweight, transparent polyethylene, allowing the fuel level to be viewed from the outside. The bayonet-type tank lid opens easily with a quarter-turn, and features a built-in protection against accidental unscrewing.
bodywork
The KTM 450 EXC Six Days features an ergonomically slim fairing with excellent contact points between rider and machine. It offers unlimited freedom of movement. The 2013 model features new graphics in the colors of the ISDE in Germany.
