presentation of the 250 EXC 2015
An unbeatable power-to-weight ratio, low purchase and maintenance costs and simple technology make this 250 the first choice for extreme enduro outings. The ultra-modern engine fires effortlessly via an electric starter, setting the market benchmark in the 2-stroke sector. Enduro performance unrivalled in its class, a perfectly spaced 6-speed gearbox and a DDS clutch make this engine the leader in its class.
optimized engine
For this 2015 version, the engine benefits from a new TVC exhaust valve setting, which opens at 200 rpm higher. As a result, power delivery is smoother and more homogeneous. The ignition curve has been optimized for this new TVC setting. Carburetor tuning has also been improved for optimized, more homogeneous engine characteristics.
ignition housing
A new ignition housing with a new gasket has been developed for the 2015 KTM 250 EXC. Even the clutch cover gasket has been optimized to further isolate the unit.
electric starter
The intermediate gear ratio for the electric starter has been shortened to ensure even safer starting of the electric motor with greater starting torque.
frame
The 250 EXC's modern frame design in lightweight, high-strength chrome-molybdenum tubular sections combines maximum longitudinal rigidity with optimum torsional rigidity. This not only ensures good handling and precise steering, but also excellent riding stability. The new frame not only shines in its new colors, but also clearly sets new standards in terms of weight and stability. The frame of this 2015 version shines in the same orange as the KTM factory team models, making its design even more attractive. It's also easier to maintain and offers more space for the fuel tank and other components. The frame design, combined with the PDS rear shock absorber, optimally dissipates rear-wheel shocks.
swingarm
the cast aluminum swingarm was designed using state-of-the-art calculation and simulation software; the design and wall thickness ensure minimum weight for optimum strength and a perfectly defined flex.
suspension / damping
the KTM 250 EXC features individual suspension tuning perfectly matched to its weight and engine. The high-quality WP suspension components have been specially designed for enduro use, ensuring maximum grip and comfort. at the rear, a PDS shock absorber with direct connection above the swingarm. A wide range of fork rebound damping settings, as well as Highspeed and Lowspeed compression damping, come as standard with KTM.
fork crowns
The fork crowns have been specially designed for enduro use, ensuring precise handling by supporting the fork flex. The rider receives precise feedback from the front wheel even on the toughest terrain, increasing safety and speed.
fairing
The fairing has been designed with ergonomics and functionality in mind, so that every detail of the bike is in perfect harmony with the rider.
air box
The ingenious design of the airbox ensures optimum protection of the air filter from dirt, and maximum air flow for enhanced performance. The airbox covers are manufactured using a two-component process, with new "Inmould" graphics. Filter replacement is quick and tool-free. Two additional tabs on the cover also allow it to be secured with screws.
handlebars
All EXC models are equipped with extremely sturdy Neken tapered handlebars made from a solid aluminum alloy. The tried-and-tested KTM system enables the handlebars (now black anodized) to be fixed in a choice of four positions. For the 2015 model year, the handguards are made from a new material that ensures greater impact resistance.
tachometer
The new MAE tachometer integrates all indicator lights into a single component (with the exception of the turn signals). The cockpit is clear and uncluttered, making all available information easy to read.
wheels
The wheels feature new Giant 7050 T6 aluminum rims, with black-coated spokes, lightweight aluminum nipples and CNC-machined hubs, guaranteeing maximum stability for minimum weight. Maxxis enduro tires specially developed for KTM offer perfect grip and excellent performance.
brakes
High-tech Brembo brakes have long been standard on KTM off-road bikes, with lightweight Wave disc brakes for optimum braking performance. Best-in-class enduro brakes, they remain unchanged on this 2015 version.
