To replace the CK1, Kymco offers the Visar. Uncomplicated, a little muscular in terms of design and downright lively in terms of looks, this little Taiwanese motorcycle dares to express itself; to give cachet to a utility/light touring vocation. A basic with aplomb. With its incisive fork head, well-crafted shoulders incorporating turn signals, standard engine cowling and large trim pieces, the Visar ensures stylistic continuity with the CK1.
It's on the technical front that Kymco is evolving, to secure its place in the 125 roadster market. The twin-valve, single-cylinder engine now complies with Euro4 standards. It also benefits from fuel injection, but will have to make do with a modest 10.2 hp at 8,000 rpm; sufficient for urban racing, but less convincing when the roads get longer. On the other hand, its economic vocation is obvious. With a proven powertrain and low fuel consumption, the budget will only be felt at the time of purchase. In fact, the Visar announces a clear price increase over its predecessor.
Aluminum rims, simplistic tubular steel frame, small fork - the chassis argument remains unchanged. Except on the braking front, where the rear drum is replaced by a disc system. All this for a weight of 136 kilos. A classic value in this category.
On its way, the Kymco 125 Visar will cross paths with the Yamaha YS 125 and Honda CBF 125, or in another register, the Mash 125 Seventy Five and Black Seven. Faced with the Japanese, it no longer has the price advantage. On the other side, the Sino-French models are hitting the bull's-eye with their vintage styling. Not easy to make a place for yourself. The Visar, however, can count on its style and slight impertinence to convince.
