The young Chinese manufacturer Chongqing Leten Power Technology is breathing new life into the small off-road utility vehicle category. With its LT190, the brand offers a rugged and well-equipped reimagining of the famous “Trail Cub” format, combining a modern engine, automatic transmission, and electronic features.

A mechanical design unlike anything else in the segment

Whereas the Adventure Cub market has traditionally been built around air-cooled single-cylinder engines with carburetors or simple fuel injection paired with four-speed semi-automatic transmissions, Leten has opted for a complete technological break with tradition. The LT190 features a liquid-cooled 188 cm³ engine block equipped with a dual overhead camshaft (DOHC) valve train and four valves. This engine delivers approximately 20 chevaux (14 kW) at 8,250 rpm and maximum torque of 16.5 Nm at 6,500 rpm—figures significantly higher than the established standards in this mid-displacement segment.

Another notable feature is the use of a continuously variable transmission (CVT). This technical choice radically simplifies driving in urban areas or on trails, while maintaining a chain-driven final drive to the rear wheel.

Chassis Design and All-Terrain Capabilities

The LT190’s design is built around a reinforced steel-tube frame, engineered to withstand the stresses of mixed-terrain riding. The ergonomics draw directly from off-road design principles, featuring:

- A high-mounted exhaust system that preserves ground clearance and protects the body from splashes when fording streams.
- A suspension system with increased travel, consisting of a telescopic fork protected by bellows at the front and two separate-reserve-tank shock absorbers at the rear.
- Tubeless tangential-spoke rims, allowing for the installation of tubeless mixed-use studded tires, thereby reducing the risk of sudden punctures off-road.
With a fuel tank capacity increased to 9 liters —compared to less than 5 liters on most equivalent urban utility bikes—the advertised range exceeds 350 kilometers, reinforcing the bike’s reputation as a machine built to ride all day, every day.

Equipment and Technology

It is in terms of standard equipment that Leten seeks to clearly set itself apart from the competition. The LT190 comes equipped with features typically reserved for higher-end motorcycles:
