the Praga brand is a Czech automotive company founded in 1907 in Prague, Austria-Hungary (now the Czech Republic).
initially, the company concentrated on the production of motorcycles and racing cars. In 1929, Praga began producing passenger cars for the general public. The cars were often used as cabs in Prague and other Central European cities.
during the Second World War, the company was used to produce trucks and military vehicles for the German army. After the war, the company was nationalized by the Czechoslovak Communist government, which continued to produce trucks and military vehicles under the Praga brand.
in 1997, after the fall of the Communist regime in Czechoslovakia, the company was privatized and sold to a private investor. Since then, the Praga brand has concentrated on the production of go-karts and racing cars, notably the R1 racing car, which became popular in European touring car races.
today, the Praga brand continues to develop and diversify, also producing motorcycles, quads and light aircraft.
