presentation of the NORGE 1200 GT 8V 2014

although the Guzzi name sounds like a good wine with an old-fashioned character, a little more pep and, above all, strength in its big tourer wouldn't go amiss. But there's no question of serving a Monster-tonic cocktail discotheque-style; let's stay in a living room of carpets and cigars. Besides, Guzzi has the right engine in stock, and it's high time to graft it onto Mandello's traveler. So here's the Norge 1200 8V, whose unmistakable transverse V-Twin is topped by cylinder heads with 4 valves per cylinder. A handful of extra torque is offered in the process, and above all, a dozen more nags have been bred in the stable. This Norge 8V thus boasts 102 hp at 7,000 rpm. Enough to ensure more vigorous acceleration and a more pleasant ride.

bigger 8-valve engine for faster acceleration? Not only thanks to the engine, but also to other modifications. The fork springs have been replaced for improved damping response and more lively cornering. The fairing has been redesigned to step up the level of protection and improve cooling of the twin-cylinder. Sitting 800 mm off the ground, the rider benefits from a closer dashboard, a 12V socket and heated grips. The transmission features a 6-speed gearbox and a swingarm equipped with CRAC (Compact Reactive Shaft Drive) technology, the Italian version of BMW's Paralever: shaft + universal joint and anti-torque effect integrated into the monobar.
More powerful, more protective, better equipped, heavier (5 kg), can the Guzzi Norge 1200 8V topple the BMW R 1200 RT from its throne? Not sure, but Italian charm is more passionate than German efficiency (and rigor).

Hello tours. Owner of a white Norge 8v since 2014 bought used. Today 32000 kms and no problem except the exhaust outlet to the muffler unsoldered. Lovely machine and very good tourer.
But when I read all the comments I must be lucky, at least for now. Hi everyone

Superb bike, but I've had to go through the "redistribution" process for over 7 weeks during the summer season, and it's embarrassing. Reliability in doubt, to be followed by a change of bike. Guzzi passes by, domamge. Rating : 2/5
Hello to everyone and especially to enthusiasts who love motorcycles that are not necessarily perfect but that know how to give pleasure.
3 years in Norway and, frankly, a great bike, with minor problems but nothing serious. A really nice engine, great handling and, frankly, a very endearing bike.
It's very comfortable to ride as a duo and very reassuring to ride. I'm sorry Guzzi is discontinuing this bike, and frankly I'd have been happy to buy the new model.
In short, we're going to keep this one and live together for many more beautiful days.

Hello.
I have owned a Norge 8v since November 2014.
until last weekend...only happiness...The bike has 8600kms and going on vacation for a week the red triangle of immediate stop lights up at Tours. The engine works strangely and the idle is at 2500rpm.
I contacted the dealer (very friendly

Sorry, the message went too fast
I was saying that the welcome from the Tours dealer was really very good. He looked at my bike straight away and quickly diagnosed a problem with the engine sensor.
As I didn't have the part, I went back to Paris...ordered the sensor from (ex)Motorino and left the next day...by car...too bad.
i really like this bike (so does my wife)...But I'm not used to breakdowns! My 2 previous FJRs have never given me the slightest problem.
I'm a bit worried when I read your comments.
Well, we'll see.

bonjour,
my norge 1200 will be 2 years old mid-July with 13000 KM and already the 2 steering bearings to change and not taken into account by the warranty!!! Wear parts are not taken into account, and the after-sales service says, and I quote (that the customer may be jumping kerbs every day! with a machine weighing nearly 300 kg, I don't even think about it. Have you experienced this problem and how much does it cost? They're asking me for 220 euros. Sincerely Gilou 42

French Model 2014
As always, there are pros and cons. But after the 2.5 months of July-August 2014 when the beautiful Norge was stopped waiting for the goodwill of the after-sales service for a modest camshaft tappet repair, then the 3 weeks of late May-early June 2015 waiting for a faulty oil pump, not to mention the 3rd oil sensor, it's hard to be happy and stay in love with Italians. And yet it's beautiful, comfortable and great to drive. But then, the 2011 model had an obsolete camshaft tappet design with brittle materials. And Piaggo doesn't want to acknowledge a design flaw and therefore a hidden defect that would have required a real recall by serious people! And what about the oil pump which, after 20,000 km, let the pressure drop when hot? And the after-sales service was always difficult to convince and, above all, to respond to. Sorry lovers, but once bitten, twice shy... Rating : 1/5

Hello motorcyclist friends and lovers of beautiful motorcycles
I thought I'd found happiness with my June 2010 1200 sport...except that I've just added to the list of unhappy customers.
Distribution to review, flywheel leak, 3 months stuck in a garage waiting for an answer from Moto Guzzi..

No word from the management to keep me waiting, no news of parts under warranty due to a design fault..

After less than 15,000 kms, I still think it's time to consider another brand...looks are all very well, but so is engine noise when it doesn't become too greedy for spare parts...longevity????

I'm sorry to see that my first beautiful bike is in fact just a trinket for sale at Moto Guzzi...I've decided to intervene because I can see that the recurring problem is not being taken into consideration by buyers..

After two Japanese cars, first purchase of an Italian for commuting. After 5 years and 25,000 kms, 1st serious breakdown: broken timing chain causing the rear wheel to lock in a bend (fortunately, it fell at low speed...). At 27,000 kms, fatal breakdown after 80 km of mixed roads: oil pump failure leading to engine clutching
Guzzi would have none of it, despite the dealer's maintenance invoices. They've lost a customer.

a beautiful Italian who has to watch out for speed cameras.
On small roads, it makes sparks fly, but it scratches the asphalt!

An excellent bike on which I feel very comfortable.
Unfortunately, too many breakdowns tarnish the landscape. Most recently, the camshafts gave up the ghost and the bike is immobilized for at least 2 months, just for the vacations. You need to rethink your response times to warranties. This bike bought in January 2011 will have spent more than 4 months in the garage waiting for moto guzzi's goodwill. As soon as it's repaired, I'm switching brands. A motorcycle is made to ride, not to stay in the garage.

French Guzztave Model 2012
Hello friends.
I've been a motorcyclist for over 40 years, and I'm an unconditional fan of the brand (7th guzzi). I just bought this wonderful bike 3 months ago, and I'm going to tell you my impressions in a few words.First of all, you look at it, you admire it, you worship it, a few minor fairing assembly defects (quickly resolved), white electrical lugs under the dashboard (I've affixed black chaterton, the center stand touches the pot a little when you stand the bike up or down (I filed it down 1 or 2 mm). The number plate and the pannier spacers are not very solid (I tapped the 2 small supports and aimed at 2 small bolts replacing the rivets),to protect the rear shock absorber from rain or any other nasty thing, I fixed a rubber flap with 2 rivets, and finally I replaced the original horn with a 130 db snail-shaped 2-tube horn bought from motoshop 15.90e, which fit perfectly in the original place.Once these little problems were sorted out, we sat down on the bike, and all the controls fell into place, except for the 2 little buttons for raising and lowering the electric bubble, but you don't care about that once you've adjusted the height! It's true that for some it will seem a bit short, but as I'm 1m86 tall, I'm not complaining. The instrument panel is very complete (too much for me) and easy to read (but given my advanced age, that's to be expected). The rider's position is great, never tired or uncomfortable at any point, and what can I say for the passenger, except that she doesn't want to get out!No choke, no wide-open throttle, no open fuel taps, in short, it starts all by itself at the flick of an index finger, the engine purrs, I get goose bumps, no parasitic noises or clicks like on a calif or a lemans from the 80s.It's all down to the 8 valves, and once the first one is engaged, the bike is all revved up and ready to roll, roll, roll. It's really between 2,500 and 5,500 rpm that this fabulous engine takes you by storm and gives you immense pleasure as you wind around corners and fast bends, with an incredible sense of security that I've never felt before, whether it's the original angel pirelli tires or the fork's rake angleboth, certainly, so it's a real handful, but then again, guzzi roadholding has been proven time and time again. Brembo abs brakes, which can be disengaged just as easily as the integral brakes (another guzzi invention). So, that's it for the bike, comfort, roadholding and braking, but now it's time to talk about everyday use.In town, it's not a problem at all, once you get used to the rather imposing size, the steering is very satisfactory, the flexibility and torque of the engine do their job very well, the air/oil cooling is very efficient, and the scoops added on the 8v models are effective too. On the road, freeway, rain or shine, low speed, high speed; well, I've got nothing to say!!!!i feel at ease, in perfect harmony with the machine.the double-optic lights do their job very well, so they're effective.the engine/gearbox/transaxle assembly is perfect,no noise or knocking like on the old guzzi models.the 12V socket under the seat, very good for the phone or gps.as for fuel consumption, after filling the tank with 22L of S/P 95 I cover between 350 and 380 kms city, mountain, road, freeway.
On sharp bends, especially to the left, the center stand scrapes the asphalt, and these days I'm going to remedy that by lowering the rubber stop by a good cm, while raising the muffler a little.
To conclude, I'd like to say 2 words about the after-sales service. It's true that the network hasn't always been top-notch, but in the last 3 or 4 years, since guzzi became part of the Piaggo group, progress has clearly increased. The dealerships have expanded and it no longer takes 3 months to get the slightest spy gasket. Everything's going in the right direction, as long as it lasts. The proof is in the increase in the number of moto guzzi in France.
Finally, I hope to have provided you with some information on whether or not to buy this extraordinary motorcycle, which is as appealing as a Calif T3, an 850 Le Mans or a V11. in short, what a kick!

bonjour guzzistes.
i would like to know if you can give me the vintage from which the 8v engines have been made reliable, because it seems that some models, Stelvio and griso are more prone to timing problems than for example the norge, and the sport it would be 50/50.
i'm wondering why one model is more prone to timing problems than the other, when the engines are the same. I'd like to know your opinion, and of course if you've encountered this kind of incident. I've owned a sport 1200 2v where I've had no problems and immense pleasure at the handlebars, and I'd like to buy a norge, but I don't know what to think about the reliability of the 8v. Can you give me your mileage and any problems you've had?
Merci.

Well, here we are, first breakdown with the Norge from late 2010 with 20,000kms
During a leisurely ride, the Italian beetle decided to vomit all its oil everywhere, so we took it to the nearest Indian Victory garage in Meteren (Nord). It's been there for a month, while the Guzzi dealer ordered and sent 2 oil pump SENSORS,
Is this normal for such a beautiful tourer?
I'm a bit disgusted, especially as the bike is full of oil everywhere, even on the panniers
I'm thinking of changing, because if I have to wait several weeks for a part..

Hi ch\'ti. I put myself in your shoes and understand very well how you feel. Personally, I waited 3 months for a spi gasket (engine/box) for a 1200S. The Piaggio group had not yet taken over Moto Guzzi, the bike was still under warranty and I didn't want to go through an intermediary (the Italian store, stein-dinse or other). As far as I know, this is the main fault with this marvellous bike. Apparently, on some Norge bikes, these sensors hold up and on others they don't. Who knows why? I also know that on the Griso, Stelvio, 1200S and even the indestructible Breva, some people have had the same problem. A good engine cleaner and lukewarm water will restore your bike to its former glory.
Good luck and stay true to Mandello's eagle.

The Norge is an excellent motorcycle that's endearing, comfortable, easy to ride and gives its rider extraordinary sensations.
Mine broke down 2 days after I bought it, and I've been struggling ever since. The problem with this bike is that the brand doesn't give a damn about its customers, and so if something goes wrong, you have to expect very, very long delays before repairs (even the spare parts are delivered with lots of errors).
It's a real shame that this fabulous bike is being shunned because of the brand (to the extent that the best dealers are gradually leaving the brand).
