presentation of the 750 V7 III Rough 2018

Far removed from the fury and madness of dark alleys, the Guzzi V7 III attaches more importance to leisurely strolls, to the song of the twins on the trees, to the scent of warm air that caresses the nostrils after taking a few calories in the cylinder head fins. A little bit of dolce vita in Mandello sauce.
But sometimes, the mind wanders, the desire to chew earth excites the teeth, the tone becomes more boorish. And so the little Guzzi becomes Rough. A new version for lovers of dry potatoes and metal without butter.

Don't think it's a scrambler or Guzzi's attempt at an enduro, either. Simply a mix of rougher accessories. The main originality comes from the treaded tires mounted on spoked rims. Basically, it's a Stone to which we've added the Racer's aluminum side covers, a special seat with saddlebags and stitching, a long, thin front fender, a planed rear fender, and a touch of black for the headlight surround.
According to the brand, this gives the bike a country-citadelic look. In other words, a checkered shirt, a spade and a beaver on the shoulder for the ride to the local branch.

Gone are the plaid shirt, the beech and the beaver, this V7 Rough certainly isn’t a true Scrambler, but its looks are a real success.
The fittings are superb, the brushed-aluminum mudguards are magnificent, the painted-aluminum side covers are still more qualitative than those on the Stone version, and the little crossbar on the handlebars makes an impact.
And then there are those gorgeous rims, black and logoed “Moto Guzzi†reinforcing this bike’s rough-cast look, shod with Pirelli MT60s that offer much better grip than their Demon counterparts, in addition to looks.

Much more than a ride to the center’Agency, this bike is a real invitation to playful riding, even traveling.
It’s just a shame Moto Guzzi didn’t push the envelope a little further by equipping this machine with better shocks for the rear, and under-seat storage, or even a hinged right side cover for quick access to its contents.
I’d also have liked a more discreet cable routing for the rear light, but overall the finish is very neat.

Apart from this perfectible damping, this bike offers excellent handling, the chassis is rigid and never gives the impression of being at the limit, even with dynamic riding (I’d say dynamic not sporty).
Conclusion: its looks exploit all the strings of the genre, but the result is very coherent, Triumphs and other Yamaha 950s are no more Scrambler than your grandmother is a Grass-Track rider.

I've been riding a Guzzi since 1992 and now since December 2017 with a V 7 III special blue, it's extraordinary and low consumption at 80 I'm doing 3.2-3.3 L per 100 and on freeway at 130-140 speedometer I'm doing 4.4-4.5 per 100. Torquey engine but above 2000 rpm. Comfortable motorcycle for solo riding. I rarely miss neutral and the gears shift without noise or glong. Rating : 5/5
