Motorcycle specifications Munch Titan 2000 1990

When talking about the German brand Münch, it's hard not to think of its flagship model: the Mammut.

indeed, ever since the brand was founded in 1960 (following the takeover of Horex's bankrupt production tools), Friedel Münch, the German engineering genius behind the eponymous brand, has always named his models Mammut.

however, in 1990, Münch, who was ill at the time, brought out his Titan in 1800 cc and 2000 cc versions.

nevertheless, the Titan remains very close to the Mammuts in design. The frame is borrowed from its pachyderm brother, and the engine base is still the NSU TT1200, but this time considerably boosted. For the model we're interested in (the 2000cc version), displacement is increased to 1997cc, and a "Wankel" type compressor is added.

power output reached 154 hp (in the 2000cc version), and Friedel Münch was forced to use equipment that was out of the ordinary for motorcycles of the time. The telescopic fork, for example, is a special 50 mm-diameter model, and the front wheel is fitted with 2 x 280 mm discs clamped by 4-piston Brembo calipers. The Titan stops its 368 kgs dry well, but the maneuvering is tricky.

münchs are not easy bikes, and the Titan is the most obvious example. Too heavy, too powerful, this bike can only be appreciated on the open road, where it proves imperious both at high speed and in recovery. Equipped with its high-bubble fork head, it's a perfect GT on German highways, but an execrable arsouilleuse.

only a few examples of the Titan 2000 were ever produced, and it never had the aura of the Mammut. Nevertheless, it will go down in history as the last work of craftsman engineer Friedel Münch. Subsequently, the brand embarked on the Mammut 2000 project, which was quickly abandoned (in 2004) after only a few examples had been produced. The Mammut 2000 was more expensive to produce than it sold for.
