Earlier today, we informed you of the liquidation proceedings initiated by the Italian company Energica. However, the door to a possible restart remains ajar...
Were the media too alarmist about Energica's situation?
In a press release, the Dutch importer of the Energica brand of electric motorcycles clarified that the requested liquidation does not automatically mean the end of the company. Contrary to reports, Energica Motor Company has not declared bankruptcy.
Marchel Bulthuis, owner of Electric Motorcycles Nederland and importer of the brand, denies these inaccuracies. He points out that the board of directors of the Italian motorcycle manufacturer has chosen to initiate liquidation proceedings, in accordance with Italian law, which could allow a fresh start.
Our latest brief remains valid for all it contains: market conditions have not changed in a few hours, and only the headline"End of the road for Energica electric motorcycles" remains in doubt.
"It's not true that Energica is in the final stages of bankruptcy"
Mr. Bulthuis is referring to the Energica Motor Company Board of Directors' announcement, dated October 14, that the company is in the process of liquidation. However, this is not bankruptcy.
Marchel Bulthuis, owner of Electric Motorcycles Nederland and importer of the Energica brand :
Unfortunately, this message has been misinterpreted by the media. As an importer of Energica motorcycles, we have total confidence in the brand. Although the recent news about this major Italian motorcycle manufacturer was unexpected, sensationalist reporting does nothing to help resolve the situation. It is essential to remain calm and avoid hasty assumptions.
This clarification is intended to dispel misunderstandings and reaffirm confidence in the brand's future, as the search for a successor or new management continues.
Regarding the future of current Energica motorcycle owners, Marchel Bulthuis reassures:
As Energica importer, Electric Motorcycles Nederland, in collaboration with the dealers, will continue to offer the best possible service to current owners. Personally, I remain fully confident of a solid future for Energica Motor Company, be it a restart or a suitable successor. Interested candidates are welcome to contact us.
So, Energica is now banking on its last hopes. If the press reports have done more harm than good to the company, as the Dutch entrepreneur claims, they have at least put the spotlight on the brand and its models.
