News RPHA 72: HJC's offensive in the Sport-GT segment

Exterior view with HJC Rpha 72 helmet.

For the end of 2025, HJC plays a trump card and renews its top-of-the-range Sport-GT full-face helmet. The RPHA 71 gives way to a completely redesigned RPHA 72, with a clear ambition: to shake up the hierarchy and revive the phenomenal success of its predecessor, the RPHA 70. To achieve this, the Korean manufacturer has opted for a brand-new hull and a strong argument: spectacular weight reduction.

An obsession with lightness

Right from the first touch, the RPHA 72 sets the tone. The engineers' obsession with this new model can be summed up in one word: lightness. With a reduction of 150 to 200 grams compared to its predecessor, the helmet weighs in at a featherweight 1425 grams (+/- 50g) in size M on the scales. This performance places it directly among the lightest GT helmets on the market, and bears witness to HJC's technological know-how in terms of materials and manufacturing processes.

Aesthetically, the design has been refined. The new shell, while retaining the sporty DNA of the RPHA lineage, is visibly more compact. Developed in a wind tunnel for roadsters and long touring enthusiasts, this helmet has been designed to combine long-lasting comfort with aerodynamic performance.

A new PIM shell: compact, resistant and aerodynamic

At the heart of this revolution is the new PIM (Premium Integrated Matrix). Heir to fifteen years of racing experience, this new-generation hull incorporates a skilful blend of glass, carbon and hybrid fibers, natural linen and organic non-woven fabrics. The result is a shell that is both more resistant to impact and significantly lighter.

The overall volume of the shell has been reduced by around 5%, a major advantage in terms of compactness and weight reduction. This work on the shape, particularly on the chin bar and appendages, has optimized aerodynamics. Wind tunnel tests were conclusive: aerodynamic drag was reduced by 19.7% and lift by 6.9%. For the rider, this means a perfectly balanced helmet, free from parasitic turbulence, which reduces neck fatigue and enhances the overall feeling of lightness at high speeds. This improved stability directly benefits aeroacoustics, making the RPHA 72 quieter than its predecessor.

Enhanced features for tailored comfort

The RPHA 72 improves on all fronts. The 3D screen, with its excellent optical quality, comes with Pinlock 120XLT anti-fog film. A new push-button locking system ensures a perfect seal with the gasket.

An essential feature in this segment, the internal sunshield has been given special attention. Already 5 mm longer than the previous generation, it adopts the new D.M.S. (Dynamic Multi-Step Sun Shield) system. In addition to its standard position, it can be moved forward by 5 or 10 mm via a control, to avoid contact with the rider's nose and provide optimum sun protection.

The interior is no exception. The 3D cheek pads and headliner, covered with a new, quick-drying antibacterial fabric, guarantee a consistent fit and premium comfort. The helmet features an emergency extraction system, grooves for eyeglass wearers and a titanium Double-D buckle. Finally, it is predisposed to receive second-generation SMARTHJC communication systems, which integrate perfectly with its structure.

With this complete overhaul, HJC is not content with a simple update. The coup is accentuated by an aggressive pricing strategy: the RPHA 72 will be launched at €459, €20 less than the RPHA 71 at the time of its release. A final argument that proves that HJC is determined to hit very hard.
