Often described as Latin America's leading representative on the world stage of women's motorcycle speed, Astrid Madrigal is an outstanding figure on today's international motorcycle scene. Recognized not only for her sporting achievements, but also for her pioneering role for women riders in Latin America. In 2023, she became the first Latin American woman to take part in a round of the World Supersport 300 (WorldSSP300) championship as a wildcard.
Yamaha Motor France presents a new episode of the Race Like A Girl web series, this time highlighting the career of Astrid Madrigal, a 25-year-old Mexican rider competing in the WorldWCR.
Born into a family with a passion for motorcycles, Astrid discovered the thrill of speed at an early age, racing motocross with her father. From an early age, she built her career around the role models who inspired her, notably Valentino Rossi and Jorge Lorenzo, and nurtured her ambition to one day race at the highest level.
In this episode, the young rider looks back on her arrival in the world championship, where all her rivals race on the same Yamaha R7, and on the road she has travelled to make her mark in the sector. In addition to her sporting achievements, Astrid has also demonstrated her commitment by founding ITALIKA Racing, an initiative designed to encourage young girls and boys to take up motorcycling in Mexico and Latin America.
Thanks to her determination and willingness to pass on her passion, Astrid Madrigal has established herself as one of the leading figures in the new generation of Latin American riders, paving the way for greater diversity in motor sports.
