Sena is expanding its product lineup with the Vortex, a new Bluetooth intercom designed specifically for two-way communication (between a rider and passenger or between two motorcycles). Priced at €169 (including tax), this compact model offers quick and easy setup, a claimed battery life of 27 hours, and the brand’s limited lifetime warranty.
A direct connection designed for pairs
The Sena Vortex is primarily aimed at riders looking for a functional communication system without the complexity of multi-user mesh networks. The device features Quick Pair, a dedicated button that pairs two units with a single press. When used motorcycle-to-motorcycle, the theoretical maximum range is 1.2 km.
Many motorcyclists ride primarily with a passenger or a single riding companion. “With the Vortex, we wanted to make it easy for them to stay in touch—with an intercom that’s simple to connect and that you forget you’re even wearing once you’re on the road,” explains Vlada Bokza, Motorcycle Marketing Manager at Sena Europe.
Ergonomics, sleek design, and wireless charging
In terms of ergonomics, the unit features five distinct, spaced-out physical buttons to facilitate operation while wearing gloves. Integrating the battery above the circuitry keeps the unit’s thickness to a compact 18 mm and its weight at 37 g, reducing the aerodynamic impact on the helmet. The design can be customized using three interchangeable faceplates included in the package (silver, matte black, and white).
In terms of battery life, Sena claims up to 27 hours of talk time. The system uses a magnetic mount that makes it easy to remove the unit, which is also compatible with wireless charging (Qi standard). All settings and software updates are managed directly through the Sena Motorcycles mobile app.
Audio Performance and IPX7 Certification
On the audio side, the Vortex is equipped with second-generation HD speakers (40 mm diameter). The microphone incorporates the Advanced Noise Control algorithm, designed to filter out ambient noise and wind turbulence to ensure voice clarity.
The unit also meets the IPX7 waterproofing standard, ensuring continuous operation in the rain.

Priced at €169 (including tax), the Vortex is the new entry-level model in the Sena lineup. Despite its affordable price point, the manufacturer includes its limited lifetime warranty (the terms of which can be found on the brand’s official website), demonstrating a commitment to the product’s longevity.
