News Motocross - Triumph Takes Over from BSA in the World Championship.

It had been more than 60 years since England had won a Motocross world championship title. But that drought is over, as Guillem Farres claimed the 2026 MX2 world title riding a Triumph TF 250-X.

Three years after the launch of the TF 250-X model, British manufacturer Triumph won the FIM MX2 Motocross World Championship, securing the riders’ title, the manufacturers’ championship, and the team standings. This result marks a milestone for the Hinckley-based brand: it is Triumph’s first-ever FIM MX2 manufacturers’ title.

The 2026 season concluded with a one-two finish in the overall standings for the Triumph Factory Racing team. Riders Guillem Farres and Camden McLellan jointly won 11 of the 19 Grand Prix races on the calendar. The duo’s final tally stands at 21 race wins, 26 podium finishes, eight double podiums, and four one-two finishes in the race standings.

These results confirm the team’s technical progress since its inception. Following Mikkel Haarup’s first Grand Prix podium in 2024, followed by Camden McLellan’s first race win in 2025, the 2026 season solidified the manufacturer’s global ambitions.

A dynamic built around its riders

The championship first saw 22-year-old South African Camden McLellan make his mark by winning the overall standings at the Spanish Grand Prix in late March—during the second round—allowing him to temporarily take the lead in the standings. He maintained consistent performance throughout the year, winning a total of five Grand Prix races—including back-to-back victories in the final two rounds in China and Australia—and securing eight overall podium finishes.

Meanwhile, 23-year-old Spaniard Guillem Farres won his first Grand Prix at the French round in May, also marking Triumph’s first one-two finish on the podium. The tide of the championship turned in July at the MXGP of Great Britain. By winning the race at his team’s home track, Farres took the lead in the overall standings and never relinquished it. He has racked up 14 race wins and six Grand Prix victories, including a streak of four consecutive wins over the summer. Six additional podium finishes allowed him to finish the season with a 36-point lead over McLellan.

For the 2027 season, the team’s racing strategy will adapt to these results: Guillem Farres will join the premier MXGP class with the Triumph team, while Camden McLellan will continue in MX2.
