presentation of the Dispatch 2026
Above all, the motorcycle is a symbol of freedom. It also plays a role in the realms of passion, performance, competition, art... and sometimes in the military sector. Certain models have earned a reputation for this, such as the Harley-Davidson 750 WLA or the Royal Enfield Flying Flea.
Let’s head to the land of the beavers and discover the Dispatch, an electric motorcycle from the Canadian startup NorthForge. Designed in collaboration with the armed forces, this tactical machine is built for reconnaissance missions and extreme environments.
A field-focused design approach
Unlike most light military vehicles, which are derived from adapted civilian models, the NorthForge Dispatch was developed from the ground up. Led by Trevor Hayter and his team, the young Canadian company claims to have spent more than three years working closely with active-duty members of the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) and specialized advisors.
The stated goal was to address the shortcomings observed in contemporary theaters of operation, where stealth and logistical simplicity take precedence over raw performance alone. This initiative is part of Canada’s new defense industrial strategy—in recent times, an increasing number of countries have been strengthening or reviving their military strategies.
Modular Architecture and Power Management
One of the Dispatch’s most distinctive technical features is its propulsion and power system. Developed in partnership with the Quebec-based company SysNergie, the motorcycle relies on three modular, interchangeable battery packs.
This configuration was designed to prevent breakdowns in critical situations: the architecture incorporates redundancy, allowing the vehicle to continue operating even if two of the three modules were to fail. The batteries can be replaced in less than a minute in the field.

In terms of performance, the bike has a total weight of 140 kg (with the chassis alone—excluding the batteries—weighing just 92 kg), placing it in the same weight class as a 300-cc gasoline-powered enduro bike. It boasts a maximum range of 200 kilometers and a top speed of 110 km/h. Its acoustic profile keeps noise emissions below the 50-decibel threshold, drastically reducing its acoustic signature. In operational theaters, stealth is an essential asset.
Weather Resistance and Simplified Maintenance
Designed for harsh climatic conditions, the Dispatch is engineered to operate in temperature ranges from -45 °C to +45 °C. Its structure is based on an aluminum monocoque design, inspired by aerospace engineering, which integrates load-bearing functions while eliminating the weight of a traditional tubular frame.
This design greatly simplifies maintenance in remote locations: the entire vehicle can be disassembled using a limited number of tools and packed into a compact transport crate (approximately 1.5 x 0.9 x 0.6 m), enabling rapid deployment by air.
With a stated payload capacity of 200 kg—distributed across dedicated anchor points on the chassis and fork tines—and a supply chain consisting of more than 80% Canadian and NATO ally components, the Dispatch is intended exclusively for the defense and security markets.
