Motorcycle specifications Royal-Enfield Continental GT 650 Thunder Edition 2023 The racy escapade
presentation of the Continental GT 650 Thunder Edition 2023
Between the roadster and the sports bike, there's a world where machines are rare but exciting: the café racer. Few manufacturers make them today. Triumph is the most famous in the field with its 1200 Thruxton; Suzuk's SV 650 X comes to mind; then, in a more modest but nostalgia-filled sector, the Royal-Enfield 650 Continental GT.
It's all there! Handlebar straps, sporty saddle, spoked rims (for the higher colors), smart looks - not quite in the running, but already in style. All of which adds up to the Thunder Edition. The cafra thus takes power over everyday life.
Thunder doesn't rumble, but it does promise escapades. The small aluminum engine cowling and the side guards will take some obstacles by surprise. Comfort and practicality increase with a double touring saddle, fabric panniers and their holders. The appearance is not forgotten, with CNC-machined handlebar end caps, an aluminum oil filler cap and a minimalist smoke bubble.
Suitcases on this kind of machine..... It's all very surprising. Loud or inappropriate is hardly circumstantial, given the neo-retro touch gently distilled by the Continental GT. Its beautifully presented 648 cm3 twin-cylinder engine relies not on its 47 horsepower, but on its charming character to carry the crew away into the emotional realm. A way of riding that's the antithesis of fashion.
The accessory pack is priced at 1,200 euros (excluding installation). A nice gift from Royal-Enfield, as the Thunder Edition is priced on a par with the standard Continenal GT.
Right next in the range, the 650 Interceptor exists in a similar version, the Lightning Edition.
