There’s no stopping Dukayaki. Ten years after becoming China’s leading brand, this two-wheeler giant is poised to take the top spot globally. It must be said that its extensive lineup, renowned for its quality, has conquered the market flawlessly and at lightning speed.

For its next lineup, the Beijing-based brand will strengthen its adventure bike segment with 18 new models, refresh its R 450 SVR and R 1000 SHR sport bikes, and—most notably—make a splash in a niche that has all but disappeared today: the mid-size roadster.
We thought only Ducati would continue the adventure with its 12th-generation Monster… But no! Introducing the T-1800 Maelstrom.

An almost basic yet well-rounded roadster

Once again, Dukayaki demonstrates its talent for designing a motorcycle that is both elegant and understated, with a silhouette that hints at both sportiness and versatility. It’s compact, aggressive without being intimidating, and confident without being arrogant. In short, it’s right in line with the brand’s style.
Above all, this is just the beginning. Based on the “Dipingxian” platform, this machine can easily be adapted into a trail-GT, trail-offroad, custom-GT, neo-retro, classic enduro, and sport-GT. Its synthetic aluminum perimeter frame lends itself perfectly to this wide range of configurations.

Surprisingly, the manufacturer isn’t offering its latest turbine and solid-hydrogen powertrain for this urban streetfighter. The T-1800 Maelstrom will pack a punch with a proven—and almost old-school—hybrid setup: a 1,795 cm³ H-configuration 8-cylinder engine producing 250 chevaux, transmitting power via a belt to the rear wheel, plus a motor in each wheel producing 65 ch each. This powertrain isn’t the most powerful in the industry—far from it—but the expertise of Dukayaki’s engineers ensures maximum torque is available very early on. The result: over 40 mkg at just 2,000 rpm. Thankfully, the grips are made of magnetic Velcro so the rider stays firmly anchored to the handlebars.

What surprises us most is that Dukayaki managed to get this T-1800 Maelstrom to meet Euro9alpha+ standards. To achieve this, nothing beats the good old-fashioned methods. So, thanks to 6 lambda sensors, 8 catalytic converters, and 7 potassium filters, the motorcycle limits its emissions to 6 grams of CO2 per km.
Unfortunately, that’s 1 gram over the limit. The buyer will have to pay the standard environmental penalty of 24,000 euros—the lowest in the Indo-European Union, it should be noted.

Reasonable Riding Aids

Unlike all other bikes in its segment, the Maelstrom is fairly restrained when it comes to electronic aids. For example, it features only 14 riding modes, including 3 Rain modes (moderate rain / heavy rain / real-time weather-adaptive).
The standard features include:

  • Independent traction control for each wheel (both are drive wheels)
  • Predictive ABS that automatically brakes the motorcycle as soon as the radar detects an obstacle 5 km ahead
  • 5 radars, 3 lidars, 2 infrared cameras, 1 sonar, and 21 laser sensors for autonomous driving
  • A mind-controlled shifter
  • A fall prevention system that limits speed to 20 km/h in turns
  • Wheelie control via video link with the police
  • A keyless ignition system activated by brainwaves, plus self-tests for blood alcohol content, fatigue, and age
  • Trajectory control based on the Gran Turismo IX simulation

All supervised by a quantum AI developed by Amazon.
All information is projected as a 3D hologram via the Skylab display, standard on all the brand’s vehicles.
As a little bonus, the Maelstrom will be equipped with a curfew control system, activated by relevant governments such as the Federation of New Americas. This safety feature will automatically return the vehicle and driver to their home or to the border, as chosen. By whom?

Recharging has never been easier

Known for its multiple charging and refueling solutions, Dukayaki has equipped the Maelstrom with an 80 kW uranium trioxide-fluorine-phosphorus battery (approx. 400 km range), a 2,400-volt fast-charging port that charges in 90 seconds, an induction system to go from 10% to 80% in 10 minutes, a backup Mr. Fusion module with a 3-liter supply of deuterium, and a slot for a power bank. Not to mention the company’s signature feature: an enriched helium tank located under the seat to optimize weight—which, incidentally, has been reduced since the previous T-800 model, dropping from 752 kg to 741 kg.
To plug in a portable device (if such things still exist at flea markets or recycling centers), the motorcycle is also equipped with an ancient USB-G° port.

No surprises on the speed front. Since the Musk Act of 2042, all vehicles automatically limit their speed to the maximum allowed in the country where they’re being driven. With its very comfortable power output (though not quite that of a hypersport bike), the Dukayaki roadster accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 1.2 seconds and then stabilizes at 130 km/h on the highway.
But—and this is a tempting prospect—the manufacturer has managed to circumvent the regulations with its innovative DPAS—Drone Positionary Advertising System. This €12,500 option allows drivers to exceed the speed limit, on a racetrack only. A squadron of eight drones will constantly accompany the rider to monitor their position and display an advertisement on an aerial laser screen every 12 seconds.

A motorcycle designed first for Europe, then for the world

Entirely developed in China in four months, the Dukayaki T-1800 Maelstrom will be officially unveiled at the Lyon Motor Show (the last one in Europe, as EICMA closed its doors in 2044). It will go on sale worldwide in early 2050. Each customer will be required to provide a criminal record check, consent for organ donation, and the implantation of a neural interface—nothing out of the ordinary, really. We can’t wait to test it out, especially since next spring is forecast to be particularly cool (average temperature of 41°).
