presentation of the GSX-R 1000 R 2017

It bears one of the most famous names in motorcycle production. For everyone, the GSX-R is the symbol of the modern sports bike, its emergence and its glory. Although it has had its ups and downs, the Gex has always been a firebrand for motorcyclists and motorcycles alike. After taking a long time to catch up with its hardened rivals, the GSX-R 1000 has finally returned to the top of the game, with many improvements and an engine capable of setting the fastest lap times.

in addition to a revamped silhouette that remains true to the company's spirit, the Suz sports bike has been given a new engine - with variable intake timing - that produces no less than 202 hp and a good 12 mkg, a more efficient chassis, and lots of electronics. Its all-digital dashboard is just the tip of the iceberg. In the past, it was only equipped with S-DMS and ABS. Now it's joined by traction control with 10 levels of adjustment, a ride-by-wire throttle, a 6-direction inertial unit working on 3 axes, the evolution of ABS which becomes active, the Easy Start System and Low RPM Assist.

the GSX-R 1000's R version completes the package. An R to define a more complete, performance-oriented package. What does it offer?
Suzuki GSX-R 1000 R 2017Let's stay with electronics. The Suzuki GSX-R 1000 R is equipped with an Up&Down shifter, which cuts engine load for 50 to 75 milliseconds, just long enough to shift up or down. A Launch Control System is also fitted, to optimize standing starts. These features are already present on rivals such as the Aprilia RSV4-RR, Ducati 1299 and MV-Agusta F4 - now there's something Italian about them - and would rightly belong on the standard GSX-R 1000. While the shifter is becoming more widespread, it seems that the Japanese motorcycles only reserve the up&down function for their '+' versions.

suzuki doesn't define this extra R by its electronic goodies alone. The GSX-R 1000 R is also distinguished by its Showa inverted cartridge fork, the BFF. Superb, it improves braking stability, offers greater comfort on the road, and gives more feel and information on the track. It is complemented by a Showa shock absorber, the BFRC Lite. The BFRC Lite offers enhanced traction and sensitivity.
Two more sporty elements, also found on a certain Kawasaki ZX-10R std.

finally, the GSX-R 1000 R benefits from a lighter battery, LED position lights and a black background for its LCD screen. Surprisingly, this improved GSX-R is one kilogram heavier than its sibling, weighing in at 203 kg.
Even more dedicated to efficiency, the GSX-R 1000 R brings a number of advantages over the standard model. The Hamamatsu-based brand remains true to its restrained pricing policy, offering an improved GSX-R for a slate in orbit of 19,000 euros. The other premium Japanese models are much further out in space.
A racing R, not to be confused with a premium edition. Remember the GSX-R 750 Limited Edition, RR and SP-R. Is this GSX-R 1000 R the descendant? Only the track will tell.

Not much to complain about with this top-of-the-line 2019 1000 R version, with all the technologies of a real race bike, worthy of a Superbike. All that's left is a muffler that's a little more racing and aesthetically pleasing, and that's it for me - a dream within my grasp, just like the 1985 model that gave me a passion for GSXRs.
