Triumph's motocross debut. Quite a gamble for the British manufacturer, which had never set foot in MX. For its new and highly promising TF 250-X, the brand has surrounded itself with renowned riders and a host of established equipment manufacturers.

Entirely developed by Triumph in close collaboration with champions such as Ricky Carmichael and Ivan Cervantes, this new competition model is a completely new concept. The race-bred engine and unique aluminum chassis are ultra-compact and super-light, with all the best components on the market ready to go.

Triumph wanted its MX department to be extremely responsive, so as to be able to react as quickly as possible to satisfy its future clientele. Its network of specialized motocross dealers will offer sales, maintenance, spare parts and a new range of dedicated clothing, supported by a 24/7 online spare parts delivery system optimized for cell phones, so that customers can place express orders directly from the edge of the motocross field

Motorization

Triumph has developed an all-new single-cylinder engine for the TF 250-X. With a forged aluminum piston and titanium valves, the engine also features low-friction diamond carbon liners, lightweight magnesium crankcases and a Belleville Exedy clutch.

The Triumph MX Tune Pro application enables the rider to fine-tune the power of the TF 250-X. It includes diagnostic functions and a choice of real-time mapping, with over ten selectable mappings, as well as injection and ignition settings. Designed to adapt the bike to riding conditions, it also provides information on maintenance intervals.

Aluminum chassis

The aluminum chassis features a double-cradle central beam, designed for optimum balance between performance, mass and flexibility. The total weight of the bike, 104 kgs ready to ride, will enable the new TF 250-X to set a new benchmark for best-in-class power-to-weight ratio. It also offers a high level of adjustability to suit different riders and styles.

Top-level features

The TF 250-X is equipped with top-of-the-range components, giving it unrivalled features for a production bike in this class. KYB suspension tops the list, with a 48 mm AOS fork, forged and machined 7075-T6 aluminum fork crowns and a fully adjustable Kayaba shock absorber.

The Brembo braking system includes a dual-piston front caliper, a single-piston rear caliper and Galfer discs measuring 260 mm at the front and 220 mm at the rear. DirtStar 7000 Series aluminum rims and machined aluminum hubs are fitted with Pirelli Scorpion MX32 mid-soft tires. Pro-Taper ACF carbon handlebars and ODI grips complete the package.

Competition accessories

In addition to the high level of parts already included as standard, Triumph has worked with leading brands to create a dedicated range of competition accessories to further enhance performance and capability.
These accessories include :

- a complete Akrapovic titanium exhaust system
- holeshot XTrig kit
- athena LC-GPA launch control module with improved traction control, pilot-selectable launch control settings and LED engine speed indicator.
- mX Tune Pro wi-fi module
- performance Gripper saddle and saddle cover
- plastic fairing replacement kit

Triumph Motocross dealers will also be offering a new range of clothing, available alongside the new TF 250-X. Launched by Triumph in partnership with Alpinestars, the range includes Motocross and Enduro boots and clothing.

Triumph MX Specialist Centres

From spring 2024, Triumph Motocross and Enduro dealerships will open in Europe, Australia and the USA, with 300 openings by the end of 2024. These will be fully trained, specialist off-road dealers offering sales, maintenance, parts, clothing and race support services.

This network is supported by a unique 24/7 parts and accessories supply system. Available on the Triumph website, this new electronic parts and accessories catalog is fully mobile-optimized, so that riders can search for parts and place orders while on the tarmac. Riders can select what they need, check availability and price, and place an order for express delivery, standard delivery or click and collect with their local Triumph motocross dealer.

The TF 250-X will start at 11,195 euros and orders can be placed now with Triumph motocross dealers, with bikes available for delivery from spring 2024.
