presentation of the 765 STREET TRIPLE RS 2018
This time, the fun's over. Gone are the Baker Street brawls, the shredded gloves and the kit-chain-striped black jacket. The Street Triple, pumped up to 765 cm3 and revved up in this RS version, is no longer interested in gang stories. Its new thing, this craving that itches its connecting rods, is the track, sport, trajectories, the art of the pistard. It's time to get some proper equipment, with a shot of adrenaline and some popping rubber. This is a dose of Street Triple 765 RS.
Hinckley's mid-size streetfighter takes the brand to a hitherto unknown level, far sportier than the R definition it employs for the Street below. Sober in appearance, with no need for garish colors or provocative calls to action, the Street RS is sufficiently convinced of its potential to cultivate a certain discretion.
Which fades as you get closer. It's just as much a bundle of nerves as its S and R siblings, complete with oval eyes and a rear end that's as elusive as it is sporty. It comes with an engine cover, lower chain guard, rear hood, special seat stitching and handlebar-end mirrors. So much for styling presentations. Immediately afterwards, the RS asserts itself! With Brembo clamps that connoisseurs will appreciate, very effective M50 calipers.
The choice of top Italian braking technology goes hand in hand with an unbridled temperament for this British roadster. Like the rest of the Street Triple range, the new 765 cm3 block is a tough nut to crack. As compact but extensively modified as the 675's mill, it reserves its strongest breath for this RS version. 123 horsepower are on tap, 10 more than on the S. Torque, at 7.9 mkg, is identical to that of the R version, or 4 Nm more than the S; but it's on the RS that you have to go looking for it, at 10,800 rpm.

More than 120 hp for a 166-kilogram moth, that's a lot to talk about. And Triumph has clearly chosen to place this Street in a muscular, top-of-the-range category, capable of satisfying the most demanding riders. A shifter is standard equipment on this high-octane machine, as are the more efficient Pirelli Diablo Supercorsa SP tires. The R and RS versions of the Street Triple benefit from a tighter column angle (23.9° instead of 24.8° on the S) to make the front end more incisive. The front fork is a 41 mm Showa BPF inverted fork. The rear has been pampered with the new Street swingarm and an Öhlins STX40 shock absorber. The suspension components are, of course, fully adjustable. But hell, if it's going to be a more powerful, more impetuous version, and considerably more expensive than the R, why doesn't Triumph offer it an Öhlins fork? The Daytona R was entitled to it...
Let's move on. The 765 RS gains the new 5' TFT instrument panel, shared with the R. A superb, rich instrumentation, with extras reserved for this top-of-the-range model. In addition to a stopwatch, the rider benefits from a set of 3 additional display styles and a 5th driving mode. Available are Rain, Road, Sport, Rider, and here the exclusive Track.
Like the R, the RS benefits from an anti-dribble clutch, disconnectable ABS, LED lights, a 5-position joystick, a distinctive exhaust tip and a gear indicator. Common to the whole family are the electronic throttle, disengageable traction control, tightened first two gear ratios, and that typically'Tripeule' styling.
The meanest version of the Street Triple saga, the 765 RS features a three-cylinder engine packed with watts, combined with a more efficient chassis. Triumph could (should?) have gone even further, but there's already plenty to do, and not just a little. Ready to bleed on the road and eat sliders on the track, this top Street Triple isn't aimed at streetfighter enthusiasts, more at riders and trajectory creators. Don't wait for it, it's not designed for.
