presentation of the Tiger 800 XR 2019
A sign, a sensation deep in the eye. Could this be where it all happens? Absolutely not, and yet all it takes is the blink of an eye to tip you over the edge. The new 800 Tiger is in this vein (in XRX and XRt). With very few clues to identify it. But there's a lot more to it than meets the eye. Triumph's mid-size trail bike raises the bar, while retaining its silhouette and size.
Triumph has announced a new fairing design and revised side panels. We didn't notice any difference, apart from the muffler heat shield and the inclination of the rim spokes. Never mind, the tigron knew how to please before; it will continue to do so. And much more, but for the more upscale versions. It's in the higher trim levels that the 800 Tiger reveals its high-caliber equipment. Signature LED headlamps, TFT color display, riding modes, adjustable windscreen, backlit controls, cruise control, heated grips, etc...
Other on-board equipment is a consolation. This XR is equipped with ABS and disconnectable traction control, an adjustable seat and handlebars, two auxiliary sockets (12V and USB), and the enthusiastic 800 cm3 3-cylinder block.
Still 95 hp, now a little sportier thanks to a shorter first gear ratio. The lighter muffler has also been redesigned for a more engaging sound. No details have been released, but Triumph has announced over 200 modifications to the chassis and engine.
In XR trim, the 800 Tiger is primarily a loss leader. It's got the essentials, and already more than enough to satisfy the still-riding crowd. But most customers will inevitably be drawn to the other versions.
