presentation of the TT 600 2002
we were delighted with the 955i Daytona: an English sports bike with such British charms, notably its 3-cylinder engine and tubular frame. We're a little disappointed by Triumph's lack of originality for its 600 supersport. Aluminum perimeter frame and 4-cylinder engine, just like the Japanese rivals. The latter is treated with the utmost care: forced air intake and fuel injection (a first in the category). Developed exclusively for the TT, it produces 110 bhp, but drops to 98 in France due to a German-style clamping system. No matter. It boasts great mid-range consistency and plenty of revs.
like its big sister, the 955, this sporty machine is designed to be user-friendly. Far from the radicalism of an R6, this British bike is more in the league of the CBR 600 and Kawasaki ZX-6R. On the track, it's a little slow compared with the ultra-sharp pistardes, without being ridiculous. On the open road, we'll appreciate its ease of handling, which doesn't detract from its efficiency, its protection, which has the merit of being there, and its acceptable riding position. As a true sports bike, the TT swings from one corner to the other with a flick of the wrist. A very good bike, which suffers above all from a lack of personality.

Yes, I can agree on several points: the protection and comfort, whether in the saddle or in the riding position, are clearly more from the sport-GT range than pure sport.
The same goes for the suspension and brakes, which are highly effective but deliver their performance with finesse and smoothness. The TT maintains its trajectory very well on all types of surface, without trying to throw its driver off balance, even when riding as a duo. Braking is powerful, durable (original avia hoses) and very dosable, but its bite is much weaker than that of modern sports cars.
It's the blandness of the engine that really gets me. I find it very expressive. Very hollow at low and mid-range, but with a raspy sound, vibrant enough to be alive. From 6000 to 10000rpm, it's round and pleasant, but suffers from unpleasant injection jerks between 3 and 5000rpm.
From 10000rpm onwards, it unleashes its fury and furiously rushes into the red zone 4000rpm higher, with a raging, almost crystalline sound that's a delight to behold.
The chassis is sound and easy to live with, but less incisive than recent sports bikes (CBR RR 2007, Dayto 675, etc.), and the large, wide tank and low seat make it difficult to wiggle. The side stand can also sometimes rub on left-hand hairpins, especially when riding as a duo.
The fairings are virtually impossible to find second-hand, and unaffordable new, and the alternator housing is very exposed. Rating : 4/5 Respond to Aleph
Flexible, with a smooth-running engine
Very nimble, you quickly feel at ease on the handlebars
Now available second-hand at a very reasonable price, this bike is, in my opinion, a must-have sportbike not to be passed up. Rating : 5/5 Respond to Malossi75
