presentation of the Tiger 1200 GT Explorer 2022
Within the 1200 Tiger family, the "Explorer" branch is dedicated to long squads. Deep into the heart of the country, the valley, the veldt or the land. Going as far and as long as possible is the goal of the GT Explorer version.
The big new Tiger has undergone a real change in stature and pretensions. Its totally redesigned silhouette shows more dynamism, erasing the massive side of the XR. This can be seen from the technical side. Speed Triple engine deflated to 150 hp, over 13 mkg of torque, lightened frame, all-new swingarm, 25 kilos less weight, Brembo Stylema brakes, improved ergonomics, slimmer size - Triumph has decided to hit the class hard.
The Explorer is not only the highest level of finish, but also synonymous with a seriously increased fuel tank capacity. It gobbles up an extra 10 liters of fuel, for a total of 30 liters. A range of 600 km is conceivable, making it a real road-goer. Its broad shoulders should provide extra protection.
Next, it's the staggering on-board equipment that will attract travelers to the Tiger top moumoutte.
In addition to all the equipment found on other versions, the Tiger 1200 GT Explorer comes with :
- engine protection bars
- radar blind spot detector*, and
- heated saddles
- tire pressure monitoring
- 16 mm higher handlebars

And this Tiger 1200 comes with so many things (more or less necessary) that the final bill is understandable.
The equipment above is only available as standard on the Explorer, but before that, there's all the GT Pro equipment, i.e.: five riding modes**, an aluminum engine cover, aluminum anti-skid guards, adaptive cornering lights, an Up&Down shifter, hill-start assist, heated grips, cruise control, a center stand, an under-seat USB socket, backlit commodos and a pair of fog lights.
All this comes at a price on the scales. Between the base GT (the least equipped) and the Explorer, 15 kilos are added. Here, we reach 255 kg fully loaded.
When I say "least equipped", I don't mean that it's a stripped-down trail bike. Triumph is continually developing its high-end image, so that even the smallest of its machines is suitably equipped. So, everything listed before is added on a layer of Showa semi-active suspension, optimized traction control in corners, a new 7-inch TFT screen with MyTriumph app to manage a smartphone, navigation and GoPro, cornering ABS, Magura levers, a seat adjustable to two heights (850 or 870 mm), a bubble adjustable by pulling (or pushing) a simple handle, handguards, a daytime visual signature and a keyless on-board system.

BMW has its packs, Triumph opts for another approach with its trim levels, and here we reach the pinnacle of British trail riding.
* With Continental's Blind Spot technology, a rear-mounted radar detects the presence of objects in the area behind the bike. The system can thus warn the rider when a car is in a blind spot.
** Oh, and I almost forgot to mention the riding modes again. Here they are: Road, Rain, Sport, Off-road and Rider (configurable), which affect throttle response, ABS level, traction control and suspension responsiveness. Power is reduced to 100 hp in Rain mode

Maintenance
The tire may wear unevenly, compromising zero degree reinforcement. This can lead to partial tread separation and/or a sudden loss of air pressure, which can result in loss of vehicle control and increase the risk of accident and injury.
