Motorcycle description sheet X-Wedge / WycheVoyager VS 2000 2024 Madness for two
Very few manufacturers still dare to offer a sidecar in their catalog. There is the essential Ural; more discreetly Mash in our country (and its twins Shineray); let's not forget Changjiang; and let's keep the memory of Side-Bike.
Otherwise, you have to turn to a specialized company to get one and convert a grindstone with a basket.
Common point of the reduced offer on the market: modest power, and an original motorcycle without great scope. The new brand X-Wedge undertakes to restore letters of nobility to the category, with an imposing sidecar baptized VS 2000 Voyager.
A beautiful piece, based on the cruiser RX Ranger itself already of large size. The Chinese manufacturer intends to make a name for itself with its iconoclastic range (a custom, a big touring, a sidecar, a trike and a three-wheeler like Spyder) powered by a huge twin. This 1979 cm3, derived from an old S&S twin, is announced as a serious competitor to Harley-Davidson's M8s. Its high displacement allows it to develop more than 16 mkg at only 3,000 rpm; combined with a power of 103 horsepower at 5,000 rpm.
If the basket is not as glamorous as a Watsonian or a Precision, we can admit to a certain personality, designed by the Kiska studio (known for taking care of the style of KTMs). Its wheel is driven and driven by a differential. Inside, X-Wedge has provided a nicely presented armchair, with embossed upholstery, headrest and seat belt. A luggage rack is provided, always very practical for carrying a Vanity or a good big sailor's bag.
Unlike many of its counterparts, this sidecar does not feel the need to change the fork in favor of a triangulated or balancer front end. Its handling will thus be more “authentic”, and helped by the large handlebar allowing a good lever arm. Imposing, wide, not devoid of a certain charisma, the VS 2000 is also a heavyweight with its 510 kg.
The on-board equipment is well present, as evidenced by the Keyless keyless system, full LED lighting, heated seats, tire pressure monitoring, 3-channel ABS, traction control, automatic rear cylinder stop, a windshield and a large footboard on the basket side, and a lot of chrome.
About fifteen years after Harley stopped making sidecars, another brand is relaunching the big custom harness, with a heavy-duty engine and a style that is as old-school as it is unique and endearing. Like all X-Wedge models, the Voyager is not planned to be marketed outside of China. For now..........
