presentation of the YZ 65 2025
For very young riders, the discovery of motocross often brings to mind the famous PW. Yamaha has always endeavored to make off-roading accessible from an early age. The company was one of the first manufacturers to develop leisure and motocross models suitable for children. Today, Yamaha offers one of the most comprehensive ranges of off-road motorcycles designed for everyone, from beginners to professionals.
2018 was marked by the launch of the YZ 65. With this little cross-country bike, Yam is finally giving the Kawasaki KX 65 a run for its money. Designed for young riders, it features the most advanced technologies. Equipped with a modern engine/chassis package and a design inspired by the YZ 450 F, the YZ 65 reaffirms Yamaha's commitment to young riders: the starting point for future champions.
The brand now offers an ideal transition after the PW 50 and TT-R models for children. The YZ 65 welcomes the youngest riders and their families into the world of motorcycling, enabling tomorrow's champions to discover motocross in ideal conditions. YZ 65 riders will start off with the best possible equipment, enabling them to reach their full potential on the track.
a smooth, powerful and easy-to-control 65cc engine
The Yamaha YZ 65 is powered by a liquid-cooled 65 cm³ 2-stroke engine. This benefits from a valve gearbox specially designed for racing, which ensures instant response to acceleration whatever the rpm, as well as a CDI system that offers precise ignition and helps control engine speed.
Yamaha is a leader in the design of exhaust valves and lights. The YZ 65 is equipped with a YPVS (Yamaha Power Valve System) mechanical system that delivers smooth power delivery and helps optimize torque for better low- and mid-range performance. The 6-speed gearbox allows the YZ 65 rider to maximize performance on a variety of circuits.
In addition to its smooth, easy-to-control engine, the YZ 65 also guarantees riders and their parents optimum durability and reliability for this category. It features a compact, high-capacity radiator with optimized hose routing to maximize cooling efficiency, even in the toughest racing conditions.
A model that ensures stability and lightness
To enable YZ 65 riders to make good use of the new engine's excellent performance, Yamaha designers have developed a new semi-double cradle frame with a removable aluminum rear end and a lightweight aluminum swingarm that guarantees agility, stability and lightness.
In addition to these chassis components, this model benefits from 60/100-14 front and 80/100-12 rear tires. The YZ 65 is also equipped with sporty "Wave" brake discs, which are lighter than conventional discs and optimize self-cleaning in complicated conditions.
top-of-the-range front and rear suspension systems
For exceptional handling and effective shock absorption, the YZ 65 is equipped with a 36 mm KYB fork that provides a real sense of stability at the front, allowing you to tackle corners in complete safety. Designed for racing, this fully adjustable front end adapts easily to different riding styles and track conditions.
The aluminum swingarm and Monocross-style rear suspension system offer agility and stability for a comfortable ride, while the linkless suspension concept reduces the need for routine maintenance. This system means no heel-toeing on the roughest terrain.
total control
The YZ 65 is a complete model, guaranteeing excellent engine performance as well as exceptional handling and durability. The seat and side covers allow the rider to shift his weight quickly forward or backward, giving him total control whether sitting or standing. What's more, the YZ 65's handlebars can be adjusted in four positions to suit all body shapes.
an innate sense of competition
The YZ 65 benefits from genuine competition genetics. Its blue rims and graphics are inspired by the Yamaha YZ 450 FM MXGP. Every feature of this bike has been designed by the same team of engineers behind the other YZ models in the range.
