presentation of the WR 250 F 2026
The WR-F 250 is a good base for discovering enduro riding, without the hassle and power. Thanks to its powerful 250 cm³ engine, developed from the MX2 championship-winning YZ 250 F, the Yamaha offers top-end performance and powerful low-end torque. Optimizing its enduro abilities, its agility and comfortable riding position guarantee the rider top performance on the slowest technical sections as well as on high-speed tracks.
The 2026 model retains its innovative cylinder head with wide intake port and high-performance camshaft with low-friction chain, as well as the recently updated suspension and optimized bilateral beam frame, developed from the YZ 250 F motocrosser but optimized to excel in enduro environments. Lightweight hubs and three crossed spokes promote shock absorption and traction, while compact fairings, a flat seat and lightweight components allow optimum freedom of movement and handling. Adjustment is effortless thanks to a manual fork compression adjuster and the easy-to-use Power Tuner smartphone app.
For added peace of mind, the WR 250 F boasts a world-first electronic anti-theft lock, accessible via Yamaha's free Power Tuner app. This feature allows owners to lock the ECU so that the engine will not start until the owner has unlocked the machine using a password. The Power Tuner app also features a lap-timing function and allows simple, intuitive settings. It can also be used to set traction control parameters.
For 2026, the WR features a new blue saddle with an anti-slip surface to help the rider maintain position during heavy acceleration. To make it easier to move around the bike and switch from sitting to standing, the saddle is flat and slim, with rounded edges.
Since 2025, improvements have included a new timing chain to reduce friction losses, an optimized double-beam aluminum frame for improved agility and rider feel, best-in-class KYB suspension for improved stability and shock absorption, greater power delivery thanks to a new high-efficiency air intake system, as well as a new compact fairing and a thinner, flatter seat.
For improved handling, the WR250F's redesigned chassis is inspired by the design of the race-winning YZ250F model, while providing essential improvements for enduro riding at the highest level. The frame now features a 15 mm lower tank rail and a U-shaped profile at the rear. The connecting tube has also been lowered by 15 mm to lower the bike's center of gravity and improve stability and agility in corners.

In order to offer the rider as much feel and feedback as possible, particular attention has been paid to the shock absorption and lateral flex characteristics of the new frame, to deliver a smoother ride while reducing rider fatigue.
The KYB fork, with a 10 mm shorter stroke, combined with the 10 mm lower KYB shock absorber, lowers the bike's center of gravity and reduces seat height for enhanced stability and agility.
What's more, the fork features a manual compression adjuster for fine-tuning the suspension settings without the need for tools, while reinforced dust seals and enlarged fork protectors offer better protection against dirt and debris, ensuring enhanced performance and durability.
As for the rear wheel, the WR250F features a lightweight three-cross rear hub and a 22 mm rear axle designed to improve feel during impacts and offer the rider better feedback.
To enhance power characteristics, the 2025 WR250F features a high-efficiency air intake system, with an air box that draws air from the rear of the machine via ducts in the side panels, frame and tank. The new short muffler improves mass centralization and accentuates the bike's compact feel, while the revised ECU has been tuned to deliver smoother, more controllable power at low revs, as well as excellent mid- and high-speed performance.
The inverted-head engine, upgraded for 2025, also features a wider timing chain and optimized sprockets and runners to reduce frictional power losses.
In addition, the WR250F's redesigned fairing features 50 mm narrower covers, a slimmer fuel tank and a flatter seat to improve rider mobility during braking, acceleration and cornering. The riding position leaves more space between the hips and feet, giving the rider more freedom for active riding.
The updated version of Yamaha's Power Tuner application enhances the WR250F's remote tuning system. The "Quick Tuning" function allows the rider to modify engine settings and switch from a soft to an aggressive setting using a simple scroll bar on his smartphone, while traction control adjustments and the stopwatch function can be accessed with a few clicks on the screen.
A redesigned starter, lithium-ion battery and practical multi-function switchgear have also been added to improve overall quality.
