presentation of the YBR 125 Custom 2009

the YBR 125 is the kind of little bike that's perfect for the city, but lacks a little glamour. Yamaha is therefore backing up its little steed with this more enticing Custom version. Once very much in vogue, the 125 custom style has become a rarity in towns and villages. It's a good initiative on Yam's part to bring back a machine of this type, which has been missing from today's motorcycle offering. For nostalgic riders, this YBR Custom will remind them a little of the 125 SR, a playful and basic utility bike that was a great success in its day.

the YBR Custom is logically based on the YBR, with a host of minor modifications. A new teardrop fuel tank (a must), 9-spoke rims, chrome accents throughout, higher "cowhorn" handlebars, a larger muffler and generous mudguards. The seat is lowered by 20 mm, and the styling is resolutely custom-vintage. Its revised dimensions (and weight) enhance its visual appeal. But the finishing effort could have been greater. The engine remains a small, fuel-injected 125 cm3 single. Not greedy, not violent, the block is judicious in town, but don't ask it to perform like crazy. 10 horsepower in the piston will take you from one end of the valley to the other, but not from one coast of America to the other. An interesting and inexpensive alternative, the YBR 125 Custom will necessarily have to go through the "tire change" stage; original shoes are as effective as government promises.

French Michelain Model 2008
Nice, well-shaped bike, economical (less than 2 liters per 100 km), comfortable, simple... what more could you ask for? The only flaw (relative) is that the top speed is low... but when you're out in the countryside... you take your time! The engine has good torque
I made a 450 km trip in one go with absolutely no fatigue... even though I'm no longer what you'd call a young driver (67 years old)!

Une YBR 125 à 70 ans ?
French lesaintpierre Model 2014
i'm 70 years old and i'd like to buy a 125 esse very reasonable? i've never ridden a motorcycle but, i have a son who's been a biker for 25 years and my grandson is also a biker so i wouldn't want to be on the sidelines Rating : 5/5
French Samso
To answer Lesaintpierre's question: 70 years old is a good time to start riding a motorcycle, especially with this light, easy-to-handle model that's not too tall. But there are several conditions and precautions to take into account
1)Be in good physical shape (sporty) 2)Train as much as possible away from traffic 3)Check your insurance (you need to have been insured for more than 2 years less than 5 years ago with my insurer)

i can't comment on a bike I don't know. On the other hand, in reply to le saintpierre, there's nothing to worry about if you want to start riding at 70. Personally, I took my A licence at 69 and I've been riding a Yamaha XJ6 for the past 2 years (31,000 km in 24 months). The bike was lowered because I'm only 1.60m tall and not a sporty rider. You just have to take courage in 2 hands and dare. Bonne route Rating : 1/5

I bought second hand a yamaha 125 ybr from 2009, I am 71 years old. My first motorcycle, I could have taken a question-and-answer course, but with my 1979 license, I learned slowly and by myself. I'm enjoying it. Hi Rating : 5/5

French Roland8486 Model 2014
I don't understand the 110km/h that people put in speed because with mine from 2014, I've never been able to reach 100 lph even when shooting the 3rd one to death!!!! That said, who cares? You don't buy a 125cc for its top speed, but to get it back to work faster than a car. For duos, don't get your hopes up too much, it's impossible for 2 adults, only a child or a young teenager. It also lacks a fuel reserve indicator, which is absolutely essential, otherwise you'd better not be dizzy and look at the fuel indicator very often! Its absence is a major deficiency. Rating : 5/5

Pratique et confortable
French Roland8486 Model 2014
The ybr is an excellent complement to the car for city dwellers. It's preferable to the car for urgent journeys in built-up areas or short errands. A large top case is essential, as the ybr is above all a utility vehicle. I've never been able to exceed 100km/h, even when pushing hard on 3rd gear, but that doesn't matter for a 125. My ex Suzuki 125 GN, revered but stolen in 2001, was more responsive and exceeded 120-125km/h, but it vibrated too much... Its engine dated from the sixties and must have polluted a lot. The ybr custom's lines are more appealing. The engine is very safe in any climate, and not very noisy, with no idling problems... Rating : 5/5

Hello,
I totally agree on the philosophy, I've been riding a 125 since I was 16 and I'm 52 now, so do the math. not a scratch. The 125 YBR custom is very cool, the only flaw is this exhaust that looks like an artillery cannon, how much would it cost me to change it at Dafy with an injection adjustment?
For info I changed the tires before riding it for brigestones, very good handling, a little over 200 euro for both
thanks

choix,
French soleil Model 2014
When it comes to choosing my first motorcycle, given that I'm going to be riding more on the road than in the city, and that I'm a beginner after the certificate I'm going to get, what would you recommend Yamaha ybr 125 or Yamaha ybr 125 custom? I'm not talking about looks, but ride and reliability. I prefer the custom, but whatever! I've taken note of the tires.

I bought this machine two years ago, it was an opportunity to seize: 1 year old and 1000km on the odometer!
I'm delighted with it, I use it on local routes or a little longer (40/50 km), I never tire of it. Economical, easy to handle, journey times are slightly shorter than with a car, but you save on parking! The only drawback is that the original tires are like soap on wet roads

hi, maybe you could give me some information, I would like to use a different exhaust pot than the original one to gain a bit of speed, do you have a place and a pot to buy to make this modification please? Rating : 5/5

this bike does 130 kms/h on the clock, but it's no longer a 125 cc lol.to answer alkatraz:you can find an ixil or leovinci pot on the internet but I advise you to go through an accessory chain like dafy or moto expert who will fit it for you and carry out the carburettor or injection adjustments depending on the year of your bike.you won't gain much in speed (5 kms/h) but a lot in torque!and a great sound! Rating : 5/5
French deimos Model 2011
Let's give credit where credit is due. This 125 is the best-handling bike on the market today, and also the most reliable.
Compared to the flashier Korean models, it boasts a pleasant style and good responsiveness.
Having owned a Daystar for two years, the comparison is not in the Daelim's favor. Sure, the Daystar is there for show, but when it comes to reliability, responsiveness and handling, the YBR comes out on top.
Finally, it's worth remembering that the 125 isn't driven like a large-displacement bike, and that there's no point in trying to imitate those who drive a 500 or a 1000.
The pleasure of the 125 YBR is that you live the road, not swallow it. In over 10 years of riding 125s, all the serious accidents I've seen have been big ones, with bikers who think they're kings of the road, until they crash. I've seen them crying like little children over their wrecked bikes.
So the 125, when ridden with care, offers a great deal of satisfaction to motorcyclists. But they need to stop trying to make themselves look good by identifying themselves with big bikes, whose capabilities are far from accessible on our roads, where speed is limited.
A little simplicity goes a long way towards giving pleasure to those who, when riding their 125, don't ask it to be the star it can't be.

owning a real custom 125 shadow honda
i wouldn't call this bike a custom
it's a custom in name only
right now, the brand that makes a real custom bike
with a v twin and without any taste mistakes will be a big hit
because old-timers like us are in need of something new. I'm not talking about the Koreans, of course
and the crap that goes with it, which only works on price
