Motorcycle specifications Yamaha XV 950 Yard Built Pure Sports 2014 Quand le custom devient street-racer
presentation of the XV 950 Yard Built Pure Sports 2014
who'd believe there's a custom bike hiding underneath? When the Yamaha Bolt meets the spirit of an '80s sports bike, the result is an explosive mix. The Yard Built philosophy was created to give a special touch to models in the Yamaha Sport Heritage segment. The finishing touches are refined down to the smallest detail, awakening the imagination of custom machine enthusiasts. The brand called on the creativity of LowRide, an Italian magazine dedicated entirely to customization. To bring readers' dreams to life, the editorial team and Yamaha embarked on a creative brainstorming session, with the 950 as the basic ingredient. This newcomer to the 2014 line-up was transformed into a true "street racer", while retaining an artisanal touch. By modifying the driving position and styling, the XV 950 further accentuates its sportiness. For this new tuning project, LowRide drew its inspiration from the legendary Yamaha FZ 750, an iconic sports bike that left its mark on the minds of many motorcyclists in the 80s.
Danilo Seclì's passion for customizing motorcycles led to his appointment as leader of the XV 950 Pure Sports project. He explains:"Our approach was different. The potential was there to exceed expectations. This creation was thought through with the utmost precision, zooming in on every detail that matters. The priority was to create an eye-catching machine for the shows, but also to allow bikers to invite a passenger to share the atmosphere of the concentrations. The idea has always been to offer a project that's easy to build, and we want the XV 950 Yard Built Pure Sports to become a source of inspiration for bikers looking for alternatives."
Using FZ 750-style trim and a spoiler, LowRide has designed a surprisingly complete XV 950 with ABS. The "Pure Sports Special" styling - for the press, the FZ 750 was pure sports - bears the signature of Italian designer Oberdan Bezzi. A style created exclusively with bolt-on parts, offering the rider a choice between metal and composite to define the look of his machine. An approach that will also appeal to dealers and other customization enthusiasts wishing to give a highly personal interpretation to the model. The colors were chosen by Kaos Design, which offers a palette composed essentially of silver and metal, with a scratch effect to underline the handcrafted character.
