presentation of the YZF-R 125 2015
when the YZF-R 125 arrived on the market, it wasn't just a sporty little 125. Above all, it embodied Yamaha's R spirit. Racy, provocative, taut... a veritable R1 in miniature. Yesterday, in 2014, it got its first facelift and a few technical improvements. Even if the arms race is far less violent among the 8eme de liter than among the hypesports, a bit of evolution is not to our displeasure; especially here.
a Yam R is incisive, menacing and stares you right in the spine. The 125, on the other hand, stands up to you, with a more forceful face. Clearly influenced by the R6, it pierces its forehead with an air intake gill. It's an effective way of asserting the model's identity, and so much the better, since Yam hasn't touched the rest of the bodywork. However, the sporty look is much more present. Design? Not only the design. The front end in particular.
there's a clear change of dimension behind the front mudguard (carbon finish). On its Phase II, the YZF-R125 replaces its flimsy 33 mm fork with a handsome 41 mm inverted model. Bear in mind that the first 1000 R1 was equipped with a fork of the same diameter.
As a result, the rigidity of the front axle is increased, and new fork tees are required. Rear damping is also improved, with redesigned suspension links. Overall quality has also been upgraded, with aluminum passenger footpegs, new Y-spoke wheels and a full-digital instrument panel. It features 3 screens: the left is dedicated to engine information, with handlebar-mounted controls; the middle displays speed and a bar graph for rpm; and the right provides daily information (time, trip, fuel gauge, etc.).
Brake pedals and selector are in forged aluminum. The latter is no longer mounted on the footplate, but in front of the frame.
still powered by a 4-stroke single, the YZF-R 125 delivers the same performance as before. 15 hp and just over 1 mkg. The main improvement is a new fuel injection system that reduces fuel consumption by 11%. So, more range for the same speed? Not sure: the fuel tank is 17% smaller, dropping from 13.8 liters to 11.5. On the braking front, it makes an effort to tax its predecessor. Yesterday there were 2 pistons in an axial caliper, today there are 4 pistons in a radial caliper. Power and feel are the winners. ABS was announced as an option for mid-2015, with an inherent extra 2 kilos. Not a little proud, the YZF-R 125 would become the first Yam sports bike to be equipped with ABS. Except that the R1 was not the first.
will you care about the barely revised muffler, the more compact plate holder or the new-tech rear light with integrated position light? Will you pay attention to the 2 kilos more than the previous version or the 7 mm higher seat? In fact, you're probably wondering whether you should put on the combarde or go and show off next to more aggressive sports bikes.

Sincerely hoping for a response. Rating : 5/5 Respond to Jimmy
I'm thinking of buying a motorcycle, and as I've only had a "B" license for many years (but never lost my 12 points ;-) bonus max with my insurer), I'm more and more tempted by this superb model. I'm finding the car more and more monotonous (the roadworthiness test is also starting to get on my nerves) and I'd like to see the countryside go by other than by car... Is it true that the tires are rotten and need changing, or are the tires on the 2015 model better, especially in the rain? What is the approximate cost of annual insurance, at least the legal minimum? (I can never finalize insurance on simulators because there are questions I don't understand) Thank you in advance for your answers. Rating : 5/5 Respond to titi82
