presentation of the RC 125 2015
When KTM returned to the 125 roadster sector, it ended with the highly successful mini Duke. Aggressive looks, a cool single, a strong Katoche identity, everything is there to ensure success with young bikers. Now, the Austrian brand is going to make a name for itself with the youngsters who love sport and racy machines. For them, we're taking the same base and qualities of the 125 Duke and transforming it into an RC 125. Watch out, you're in for a rush of blood and racing smoke.
sharp, edgy, angular, the RC 125's fairing is true to the KTM spirit: an assembly of aggregates cut with a large serrated blade. Intriguing, but not as enigmatic as the RC8-R. Of course, as Katoche knows how to stand out, certain details catch the eye.the fork head, the (not very pretty) indicators hanging from the rear-view mirror branches, the passenger seat totally integrated in trompe-l'œil, the strange lenticular look... There's no doubt about it, the RC 125 is going to stand out in the 125 sportbike crowd.
underneath, the technology is very similar, if not identical, to that of the 125 Duke. It has to be said that the little roadster looks very good. The single-cylinder engine is retained, with its 15 hp, sporty temperament, surprising flexibility and undeniable qualities.
The tubular steel trellis frame is also taken from the Duke. However, Katoche has taken care to modify it to suit more typical use. The caster angle has been raised to 66.5°, the wheelbase reduced and ground clearance increased. Enough to reveal its full potential. The fork is an inverted 43 mm model, which KTM doesn't hesitate to compare with that of the RC8-R (all things considered). The 17-inch forged light-alloy wheels - 110 at the front and 150 at the rear - the open-work fork crownfull-digital instrumentation, serious braking with a Brembo-developed unit (even if it's not marked on the bike) and disconnectable ABS. For the RC 125, the chosen equipment is a 300 mm disc clamped by a radial piston caliper. Enough to stop the machine's 135 kilos in a fraction of a track.
after wowing the market with its 125 Duke, KTM is back in the small sports segment. The RC 125 will whet the appetite of young sports enthusiasts, and at the same time draw attention to its RC 200 and RC 390 siblings. Honda's CBR 125, Yamaha's YZF-R 125 and Aprilia's RS4 can all start to worry: here's a "Ready to Race" stirrer in their midst.
