presentation of the SR 400 Yard Built -GibbonSlap- 2014
Imagined by Danish designer Wrenchmonkees in association with German accessory specialist KEDO, this Yamaha SR 400 is ready to take on the urban jungle.
Large-section tires, a titanium exhaust with a megaphone look and polished aluminum mudguards not only make this SR 400 atypical, they also make it practical. Wrenchmonkees and KEDO have converted it into a single-seater and used the space thus gained to add a unique luggage rack where hand-made panniers can be placed.
Wrenchmonkees complemented this sleek design with a subtle matte black look for the forks, frame, tank and even the fork crown, almost shy of the traditional chrome finish.
Finally, this SR 400 needed a name. Staying in their tradition of the unusual and continuing the theme launched by their Yard Built XJR 1300 MonkeeFist, the bike was christened SR 400 GibbonSlap, a name derived from a knotted rope that ancient navigators used to defend themselves when ashore...
The Wrench Monkees Yard Built SR 400 "GibbonSlap" conversion kit is available from both Wrench Monkees and German parts distributor KEDO. Without prior modification of the SR 400 chassis, and with a minimum of technical knowledge, anyone can create their own "SR GibbonSlap". You can find the components you need at http://www.wrenchmonkees.com/the-yard-built and www.gibbonslap.com.
