presentation of the 900 Tracer GT 2020

Let's be honest, the previous 900 Tracer was perfectly capable of taking you on a trip. And a trip where you can have fun as soon as the road turns a little, or even a lot.

The main limitations, or shortcomings, were the hard saddle and the luggage available as accessories; semi-rigid panniers that weren't exactly top-notch for serenely setting off in other regions. The new 900 Tracer does better, but... there's still something missing to tip you over the horizon. And that's where the Tracer 900 GT comes into its own. Better equipped, more rewarding, more capable of high mileage, this long-distance crossover is tempting in more ways than one.

But don't jump to the obvious conclusion: this isn't a Tracer with a suitcase kit. Yamaha has gone much further, to make this a bike with more value and substance than that simple conclusion.
The GT is clearly more upmarket. And this is immediately apparent when you climb aboard, with the handsome TFT color display. It doesn't display any more information than the rich dual-screen display on the 900 Tracer std, but it sure looks good. It's controlled by a thumbwheel on the right-hand switchgear. Next, the suitcases. Matching the color of the bike, they have a capacity of 22 liters, but more importantly, they attach to the rear anchor points much more easily and elegantly than the optional bastard kit on the old Tracer. And if you've got FJR suitcases lying around in the garage, you can swap them to increase cargo capacity.

The Yamaha 900 Tracer GT 2020heated grips? A must-have. The 900 Tracer GT is designed for comfort, but also for sport and cruising, thanks to the joys of electronics. Fancy a laugh? The 115hp CP3 is just the thing to get you into a rhythm that's forbidden, but so good. A shifter assists the gearbox to squirt through the gears with a flick of the boot. Then, when the road gets longer, you can call on another friend, the cruise control.
It comes from the MT-10. Controlled from the left-hand switch, it operates from 4th to 6th gear, within a speed range of 50 to 180 km/h. A touch of the brake, clutch or gas pedal and it deactivates.

Where the 900 Tracer GT scores another serious point is in the suspension department. The forks are now fully adjustable, and the rear shock absorber's preload adjustment has been moved to an easily accessible knob under the rider's seat. This means the bike can be better recalibrated when the crew or the mood changes.
The GT will then be able to benefit from all the evolutions that Yamaha has brought to the 900 Tracer classic, such as revisited protection, revised handlebars, refined styling and improved saddles. And all the qualities preserved from the old model, such as the sparkling 3-cylinder engine, 3 injection maps and 3-level traction control, 18-liter fuel tank for long stages, center stand and 12V socket.

With the 900 Tracer GT, Yamaha offers a very tempting tourer that's sure to have fun on demand. The equipment is both rich and rewarding, even if there are a few areas for improvement. All that's missing is a comfort seat and a larger bubble to put it over the top. On the other hand, the price will also be of a higher caliber, and this Tracer will no longer be as affordable as the basic version. We'd almost go so far as to say that this isn't the most important thing. Because the missions that this crossover-GT can accomplish are sure to attract more than just the curious.

Hi, I've owned a 2020 tracer 900 GT since February 2021; I'm at about 8750km and I can say that this bike is a real treat, it's true that it has an engine where you can have fun up and down without any worries, always ready to pounce if you want to, plus the cycle part after changing the original tires that are frankly not great!! especially when it's wet or raining well; I put Bridgestone T32 tires on the last outing and now I'm back on a different bike. i also have a remark on the tracers there is a clacking on the front but after having made dealer it finds that it is normal ??? and well me not! it seemed to me that the clacking is done at the front especially on the roads a little deformed or the humps, for the moment it seemed to me that with these new tires whose carcass is different that this noise is gone I to follow that of loan. Fabulous! That says it all! After 3 FJR 1300 of which I was super Fan I decided to buy a TRACER 900 and its famous CP3 . Bought second hand from a dealer (2018 with 9000 Kms) from the first turns of the wheel I was won over. light, easy to handle, fast ..... only good things. just one small downside after 3 FJR 1300, wind protection. but I'm going to buy a high bubble Rating : 5/5
French Model 2020
I've had this bike for 4 months now, and I've gone over 3,000 km....despite the confinement! I'm very satisfied with this machine, which is really pleasant to ride, on the most varied of routes. As I live at the foot of the central Pyrenees, I often ride it over mountain passes, and it behaves wonderfully there. But it's all for the best on the freeway too. I can't see any fault with this 900 gt, which is also quite beautiful. My previous bike was a BMW with a big flat-twin, which I loved to the point of thinking that there was no better than BM. I can say that this 900 has nothing to envy to many higher-displacement bikes. Bravo Yamaha! Rating : 5/5
French Model 2020
I've left the basic world of my XJR for the much more fun world of electronics on the Tracer GT. Grrr. A really nice bike, and the position reminds me of my old TDM. Rating : 5/5
French Model 2020
I own a TDM 850, and after a very disappointing test ride on a 650 Interceptor, my dealer suggested a 2020 Tracer GT 900 for me to try out. What a world of change! As soon as you sit on it, you immediately feel confident
And the first few laps are extremely reassuring. The handling is simply brilliant, making you feel like a super pilot. The easy-to-read digital speedometer is worth keeping an eye on, as it's more than easy to find yourself out of bounds on any road. The bike positions itself very easily, copes with uneven road surfaces at speeds... and brakes well in all circumstances
Comfort is good, as is the riding position. Cruise control, heated grips, adjustable bubble sufficient for speeds even in excess of the law, everything is there and more
But the best part is the engine. It's easy, picks up all the time, even in 6th gear, and after 6,000 rpm becomes very punchy. At most, you could say that at forbidden speeds (max) with a crosswind, it moves a little
The price is high, but it's hard to find fault with it...

i've had this bike for 3 months, coming from a 1300 XJR, and I'm delighted with its handling, its liveliness and its equipment
in the Ardennes, it veers a lot and you can really send..

I just got off a CBR 1000 F and then a Paneuropean 1100 (45000 km in 4 years) super comfortable but too heavy at standstill and small bends
I bought the 2019 900 GT TRACER, which is top of the range, with a lively engine, long, light, easy to handle, and a position that's a little too far forward, despite the Yamaha comfort seat, which is still a little firm (but it's hard to compare with the comfort seat on the Pan)

Hello, owner of a Tracer900GT for 2.5 months / 8600kms to date (heavy rider) road trip tour of Italy after breaking in the 1000 in 4 days to leave quiet, what happiness, 51 years and motorcycle that gives Fun, even more 2.
i added 1 Givi 48L topcase and Givi crankcase guards to protect this CP3.
2 shortcomings: rough gearbox and a jittery engine that grumbles and clatters at less than 4,000 rpm, lacking in smoothness. Beyond that, however, it's all good fun, but be careful with your license...
Excellent comfort for two, I've just come off a K1600 where my knees and hips ached. Nothing like that with the Tracer. Fuel consumption 4.6l/100 max. Incredible.
You try it and you'll adopt it...
Kind regards.

Que pensez-vous en de la 900 Tracer tant que GT ?
French Chrischris Model 2019
Hello, I'm currently riding a Suzuki Hayabusa 1340 that I've owned for 6 years, in the future I plan to switch to the GT, but I find there's not much left on the market in terms of gt, kawasaki stopped the GTR 1400, Honda no replacement for the pan European, yamaha a 1300 fjr that is starting to date since 2001 despite it has been modernized, at over 20000â'¬ with all the options it hurts the wallet.bmw is the icing on the cake, it's ugly, overpriced options, a middle-class bike with no biker spirit
So I wanted to know, as an owner of this Yamaha 900 Tracer GT, what you think of it in terms of daily use, over long distances, going on vacation, as a duo or solo, with all the luggage, top case, what you think?..
Comfort? Driving pleasure? sensations?
I think I'll go and try one out at Yamaha, but a 20-minute test ride isn't long enough to form an opinion on a motorcycle.
Best regards.

Ordered today: the QP ratio is very good, the price with discount and trade-in suits me, maybe not a real GT but versatile enough for me to sign up.
The suspension didn't seem mediocre on my short test drive, but I'll have to wait and see with the adjustments I make. Otherwise, there's still the adaptability that greatly improves things. Even with a possible extension for the suspensions, it's still very well priced
