The Need for Speed franchise continues to surprise fans with the launch of Volume 9: "Prepare for Lockdown", available from November 26, 2024. This update, which also celebrates the 30th anniversary of the series, introduces motorcycles into the game universe for the first time, clearly inspired by the iconic Need for Speed: Most Wanted. With this novelty, the saga also attracts two-wheeled enthusiasts, offering a unique experience for bikers.
Need for Speed Unbound: the long-awaited update!
After 30 years of existence, the arrival of motorcycles in Need for Speed seemed almost inevitable. Among these new additions is the BMW S 1000 RR (2019), the first playable two-wheeler in the series. Accessible in the new Lockdown mode, in free exploration or in special multiplayer playlists, this iconic motorcycle enriches the gaming experience.
Adrenalin and strategy in multiplayer mode
The Lockdown PvPvE multiplayer mode offers even more intense and immersive gameplay. Players, organized in teams of three, must infiltrate guarded areas, take over an extraction truck, and evade rival gangs and police to secure their rewards. In anticipation of the famous GTA6, there's plenty to let off steam!

The sporty BMW S 1000 RR (2019) chosen to meet the challenges of the Need For Speed, Volume 9 license in style.
In terms of rewards, it's not bad either: iconic vehicles like the legendary BMW M3 GTR (2005), made famous by Most Wanted, actively sought by Razor, the illustrious antagonist of the cult game. Added to this are 14 cars inspired by MW's "black list".
John Stanley, Creative Director at Criterion Games:
We've blended the nostalgia of classic games with bold innovations to deliver an unforgettable experience.
A tribute to 30 years of racing action
To celebrate this anniversary, Need for Speed Unbound is packed with never-before-seen content:
- 14 exclusive playlists and over 60 new races.
- Motorcycle-specific challenges, Drift Pro events and nostalgic races inspired by Most Wanted.
- Customizable vehicles such as the SUBARU Impreza WRX STI (1999) and Honda Integra Type R (1998), available via the "Speed Pass".
BMW and Need for Speed: a historic partnership
BMW has played its part over the years: BMW's first appearance in the franchise dates back to 1997, and the partnership between the German automaker and Need for Speed is strengthened with this complete maj. To mark the occasion, a real-life version of the BMW M3 GTR (2005), inspired by the game, was even unveiled.
The integration of motorcycles in "NFS" follows a trend where two-wheelers are gaining in popularity in video games. Recently, Triumph Motorcycles became the official Call of Duty partner for the first season of "Black Ops 6". Need for Speed Unbound continues to seduce fans of racing and exceptional mechanics.
Playable on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series XS, and PC, the game, originally launched in November 2022, has never looked so complete. So, are you ready to hop on a motorcycle and dominate the streets in Lockdown? The adventure awaits!
