presentation of the DB7 1098 Oro Nero 2009

Exceptional and prestigious are key words at Bimota, as are Ducati, NCR and MV-Agusta. The latter recently presented us with a gold-leafed F4. For its DB7, Bimota has also turned to gold... black gold, but not the kind you'd find at the derricks. Full carbon, for an ORO NERO version. A DB7 with carbon in every corner. It's used for the fairing, but it's also found everywhere. The swingarm is no longer an assembly of tubes, but a piece of carbon. Just like the self-supporting seat, the fuel tank cover and the tubular frame components connected to solid aluminum plates. Most of the bike is made of carbon, with only the engine and road equipment made of other materials.

the DB7 Oro Nero is powered by the twin Ducati 1098, which Bimota has re-tuned to give it 164 horsepower. Its power-to-weight ratio is now 1, with weight down to 164 kg. The new instrument panel lets you time your speed on the track and export the data to a PC for riding analysis. Suspension is also in tune, with the rear shock absorber still supplied by Extreme Tech. Marzocchi has also been retained, with a huge inverted fork finished off by a pair of Brembo radial calipers (clearly the new standard in braking for Italian sports bikes).

priced at around 40,000 euros, the DB7 Oro Nero will be built in very limited numbers, 20 in all, for a price that exceeds.... more than the price of a Japanese hypersport than the standard DB7.
