Motorcycle specifications BMWR 1100 R 1996 Noble character

presentation of the R 1100 R 1996
the roadster being an essential part of motorcycle production, the Münich-based brand couldn't ignore this branch... without forgetting that a BM shouldn't look like any other machine. This bourgeois-looking machine also stands out from its competitors in terms of its powertrain. The 8-valve flat twin is no slouch when it comes to performance, quite the opposite in fact.
Efficient when you read the stopwatch, the Boxer delivers its power discreetly, while concealing the sensations as much as possible. The exact opposite of a Ducati 900 Monster. While the Italian offers a strong character, the German is much more voluptuous. Roadholding is very sound, but there's a catch: the sovereign comfort typical of Bavarian products has been forgotten. It's not a piece of wood, but you'll have to make do with very firm suspension. Agile, maneuverable and a good brakeman, the R 1100 R is at ease in urban environments. Count on a rather hard gearbox and typical BM indicators: one on each side - the world standard still hasn't conquered the star brand. Note that this roadster is also available in an 850 cm3 version.

Bikers' reviews Leave a review - 30 reviews
Comfortable motorcycle, which accelerates strongly if needed, and which has the big advantage, in these times when licence points are melting like snow in the sun, of being able to ride within (or close to) the limits, with a truck's torque.
The telelever av is astonishing, with big brakes and a bike that doesn't move, doesn't dive, and is super comfortable and safe.
I really like it.
Happy with my purchase.

There are 70 of us in France in the same situation. This is unacceptable on the part of this brand. Could we get together to take joint action? Please contact me Rating : 1/5 Respond to Christian

I have a problem with my r 1100 r BMW, from 3,550 rpm the bike becomes very unpleasant to ride as it vibrates so much. Could someone give me some information to remedy this
Thank you in advance Rating : 3/5 Respond to Route 83.
At the age of 37, I've regularly heard people talk about "old people's bikes" ....; I've only got one thing to say: I've caught the bug and I really hope to celebrate her 20th birthday (or even replace her with one of her brothers...), and I'm not going to repeat what's already been said: I LOVE HER !!!!! When it came out, it gave BM a facelift. At the time, my mates laughed when they saw me arrive on this "old man's bike" .... until the first twist in the bends... their faces dumbfounded, they had to admit that they were going to have to revise their judgement. No other bike, not even my R1150R today, has given me this much riding pleasure. I'm sorry I couldn't keep one for myself.......... Rating : 5/5 Respond to DAFY
Plus a few kilos less (at least 10 given the weight of the cat.) but that's not the most obvious thing.
For the price, I found it second-hand, like new, so at 50% off! Rating : 5/5 Respond to DAFY LE RE
it's a very versatile bike, supple, full of torque, irreproachable roadholding, efficient braking, and a lot of fun to ride. the only criticism is that fuel consumption is a bit high at high speeds, but remains reasonable at 120-130 cruising speed Rating : 5/5 Respond to luc 59
Headlights to all! Rating : 5/5 Respond to flatonze
This is my 3rd BMW after 2 r1100r. It has less engine peach, but more flexibility. As a good "R", it's a very versatile bike, easy to handle, brakes well (don't take the assisted braking option, which is useless) and is more comfortable than the old one, and won't make you angry with your beauty, even over 700kms!
What's more, you can customize it with WUNDERLICH accessories... And if you're a bit mechanically inclined, you can do everything except the injection adjustment, because you need a special device. Rating : 5/5 Respond to DAFY
Very nice bike. But I'm tall, my knees are too bent, and I'm getting mad compared to my old TDM
Even with the Wunderlich ralongues at 220€, it's still too little
Too bad, but it spoils the fun. I don't understand the BMW factory? Rating : 5/5 Respond to alaindu67
I RIDE IT FOR MILES WITHOUT TIRING, AND IT'S VERY COMFORTABLE, WHAT'S MORE WITH THE ABS, WHICH GIVES ME GREAT SAFETY IN THE EVENT OF EMERGENCY BRAKING

However, the elitist side of the brand with the propeller (!) is felt as soon as it's time to have your machine tuned at BM. Beware of the bills! 100,000 kilometers with a 1994 R110R, a bit of sludge on the hands
I don't agree with the comment about the turn signal cmde: you get used to it very well, it's practical and very safe (so much so that when I drive a car, I regularly lower the windscreen wiper comodo to make a right turn!) Rating : 5/5 Respond to ZonZon
