presentation of the R 1250 GS Edition Spirit of GS 2022
it 's almost provocative. With this limited edition, is BMW implying that travelling in a GS is not enough...? The best would be to ride with the GS spirit!... i.e. half-road, half-road, half-premium and systemic domination. With this "Edition Spirit of GS" model, every crew leaves with particularly obvious provisions: to ride everywhere with a level of finish at the top of the category.
bMW Motorrad France has reworked an R 1250 GS Triple Black with an extra dose of black for the front sidewalls, but also for some of the parts added to the equipment. The enduro engine cover, spoked rims, windscreen and engine crash-bars are darkened, as are 90% of the machine.
the remainder of the decoration features orange stripes, stitching on the saddle in the same hue, and azure piping sewn along the seats. A few stickers on the rims and frame add a touch of iridescence to the visual approach.
The handlebars feature an orange anodized aluminum badge, engraved with the words "Spirit of GS". It reminds the rider that his bike is one of the 1250s available on the market, thanks to a laser-engraved inscription.
now you know how many R 1250 GS Edition Spirit of GS models will be produced. As many as there are cm3 in the engine. That's about 1/5th of the number of large GS models sold in France over the year.
But that's not all. The trail bike also gets hand guards inlaid with an orange anodized aluminum insert, and comes with a "Welcome Box" for keys, papers, the machine's dedicated key ring and a set of additional stickers to decorate Varion cases (optional). With these considerations in mind, it's time to understand just how qualitative this GS is. The French branch has injected it with a hefty dose of equipment. With what?

- Le Confort, with chrome headers and exhaust, Keyless Ride, heated grips, RDC and heated saddles.
- Connected, with anti-theft alarm, Cruising light and additional LEDs,
- Dynamic, with ESA Dynamic, Modes de pilotage Pro, Shifter Pro and MSR
- Touring, with GPS preparation, hand guards, cruise control and luggage supports.
Of course, the price goes with it. Even more expensive than the GS 40 Years Special Edition.
This is hardly surprising for a bike that claims to be the "queen of trails". It's a worthy title, and one that's hard to pass up, given this bike's qualities. Its 136 hp variable valve timing flat-twin is one of the most convincing engines in the sector. The on-board electronics are avionic, while the chassis lends itself brilliantly to all exercises. So, yes, the GS spirit can be claimed loud and clear.
