Ducati's sultry offer: a big 77.5 hp mono with a dry weight of 151 kg. The Hypermotard 698 Mono is certainly Ducati's most fun bike for 2024! It doesn't replace the 950 Hypermotard(RVE, SP or standard), but it does add a dose of cheeky goodness. Its all-new engine, named Superquadro Mono, is derived from the 1299 twin-cylinder of the old Panigale. It's all encased in a super jewel case, both in terms of chassis and electronics!

in 1994-1997, Ducati had already designed a race bike called Supermono, designed for the track, which offered 75 hp from a 549 cm3 cylinder. The Bologna-based firm is no stranger to single-cylinder discoveries. And the arrival of this Hypermotard 698 seems to be bubbling in the brains of enthusiasts aiming for maximum pleasure! In fact, it's no coincidence that at the last Milan Motor Show, this beautiful machine was awarded the prize for most beautiful motorcycle. It's a knockout, isn't it?

the Hypermotard 698, with a cubic capacity of just 659 cm3, is a turbine mill! Nothing to do with the old long-piston monos: here, it's 116 mm bore against 62.4 mm stroke. Amazing hyper-square ribs! Compressed at 13.1:1, this engine delivers 77.5 hp at 9,750 rpm! And 63 Nm of torque at 8,000 rpm. And if you feel like it, with the addition of a track-only Termignoni muffler, power can even climb to 84.5 hp! That's a lot of power for a machine weighing just 151 kg..

From a technical point of view, this 1285 cm3 twin-cylinder, split in two, retains the same large 116 mm piston as the 1299 Panigale, as well as titanium valves measuring 46.8 mm on the intake and 38.2 mm on the exhaust. The aluminum sleeve, the DLC-coated piston pin and the famous desmodromic timing system are all still in place. Engine revs can be increased to a maximum of 10,250 rpm.

electronically, the service is more than complete, with a number of assistance systems borrowed from the Panigale V4: ABS Cornering, Traction Control, Wheelie Control, Engine Brake Control and Power Launch. Finally, the Quick Shift Up/Down (DQS) is available as an option on the standard version, and as standard on the RVE version. All these electronic accessories are available on the 3.8-inch instrument panel. This displays the essential information in a minimalist interface and allows selection of 4 riding modes: Sport, Road, Urban and Wet. And for each of these modes, different Engine Modes are set, which can be modified at will by the rider.

Ducati 698 Hypermotard Mono To retain all the flavour of supermotard riding, the 698 Mono offers four levels of ABS, two of which feature Slide-by-Brake functionality. According to the Ducati press kit, " this level has been developed for less-experienced track riders who want to start approaching sideways riding when entering corners. With this level of Slide-by-Brake, rear slides become more controllable, leaving more room for fun . It's possible to slide under braking and pass the chord point again, still on the corner, by lifting the front of the machine... Level 1 allows controlled lifting of the front wheel. All in one program!

chassis-wise, the Hypermotard 698 Mono features a steel trellis frame weighing just 7.2 kg! The fully adjustable Marzocchi fork, with its 45 mm diameter and 215 mm travel, also weighs just 8.1 kg. Hydraulic rebound damping is adjusted on the right-hand tube, compression on the left.

Ducati 698 Hypermotard Mono At the rear, the 572 mm-long cast-aluminum swingarm (total weight: 3.9 kg) is equipped with a connecting rod for progressive damping, which is also fully adjustable. Braking is provided by a single 330 mm front disc, clamped by a Brembo M4.32 radial brake to provide the stoppies needed to impress the crowds. A single 240 mm disc handles rear braking. Finally, the original Pirelli Diablo Rossa IV tires are 120/70 x 17 at the front and 160/60 x 17 at the rear.

Finally, with its geometry of 26.1° rake and 108 mm rake, thanks to fork stem supports offset by 34 mm, and a contained wheelbase of 1,443 mm, it offers handling that maximizes mass transfer under braking and acceleration, for the riding pleasures of a supermotard machine.

in terms of availability, the Hypermotard 698 Mono will be available in January 2024 in Ducati Red and an RVE version with dedicated graphics, black frame and shifter as standard. Also worth noting, for those who dream of it, this devil is available in a 35 kW version, with an engine that delivers 43.5 hp at 6,250 rpm and 5 mkg at 5,750 rpm....

French riol Model 2024
77.5 hp isn't insane, but compared to the power of the engine from which this single is derived, it's actually disappointing. So as not to overshadow the 950? KTM's 690, which is more than a decade old, develops 73 bhp, without titanium valves, desmo system... And putting it in front of an M4 caliper didn't break the bank... But despite what I've said, I can't wait to try it out. The only downside is the seat height: are they aware that not all bikers are 1m90 tall? It's an aberration. Rating : 3/5
French Hornet750Arrow
isn't 77.5hp enough on the road on a big supermoto that weighs 163kg with full tanks? It's like a roadster that weighs 190kg for 90hp (like my Hornet 750), so it should be a blast! You'd think that everyone needs 150 or 200 hp to enjoy their ride, when most people can't manage more than half that (on the road)... You've got to stop going on about numbers, you've got a complex or what? In any case, I'm really looking forward to this bike! Rating : 5/5
French Franck Model 2024
Dry weight 151 kg. How can the fully loaded weight be 200 kg? Rating : 4/5
Hello Franck. Indeed, 200 is the advertised top speed of this Hypermotard and not the weight ;) The weight 'fully loaded' (with the 12L of fuel) will be 162kg. Thank you for pointing out this typo, which we have now corrected. Have a nice day! Rating : 5/5
