presentation of the Monster Dark 2027
Are you familiar with Ducati’s “Dark” concept ? You take a motorcycle, strip away the colors and a few bells and whistles, and the price plummets to make it more accessible. That way, you’re buying the bike, the thrill, and the experience—without giving the glitz the time of day. The rebellious roadster from Bologna embraces this philosophy once again with the 2027 Monster Dark.
The red is gone—and so is 1,600 euros. That’s enough to treat yourself to a nice leather suit and helmet or to work on a customization project. Because you’ll buy the Monster Dark either to enjoy the bike without any frills or to customize it to your own taste.
The colors are gone, but the fun remains
Aside from the color disappearing from the fuel tank, fenders, and rear frame, the bike also loses its exhaust tips, shifter, the stickers on the wheels, uses only a single material for the seat, and replaces its slim, dynamic turn signals with bulkier, static ones.
Ducati could have gone even further by removing a brake disc, as on the 750 SS Dark or the Monster 620 Dark—but given the power of the twin-cylinder engine, it’s better to play it safe when it comes to safety and braking.
For many—MANY—of us, part of the joy of motorcycling comes from the thrill of owning a beautiful bike, one that appeals to us, where the paint job makes the bike or the bike makes the paint job. But when you fix your gaze on the road and your line, its silhouette and colors no longer matter. Only the riding and/or the joy of riding count. That’s the Dark spirit of the Monster: the essentials.
This concept is evident in the very latest generation of the twin. An 890 cm³ engine producing 111 chevaux with variable valve timing—no longer desmodromic. A smooth, enjoyable, and torquey engine, full of vigor and high-end power. It may have lost some of its soul, but it has gained in efficiency.
The chassis it powers is a pleasure to ride and weighs just 175 kg (without fuel).

As simple and unpretentious as it may be, the Monster is nonetheless packed with electronics. The feature set is extensive, with 4 riding modes, cornering ABS, an IMU, traction control, wheelie control, and engine braking, LEDs everywhere, a 5-inch color TFT display, and a few optional extras (shifter, multimedia system, cruise control, turn-by-turn navigation, USB port, and a hill-start assist).
In this Dark version, the Monster retains the essentials, takes on the night, and becomes Ducati’s most affordable model.
