presentation of the 800 SS 2006
the 800 SS takes up where the 750 left off. No radical changes, only the engine stroke has been increased. But with this new cubic capacity, the 800 produces 10 hp more than the 750, plus a ladleful of extra torque. 15 km/h faster and the title of most harmonious bike in the SS family. It offers almost the same performance as the old 900 SS, but with a smoother engine that picks up from 2,500 rpm. Equipped with a 6-speed gearbox, driving pleasure takes a leap forward. But not comfort, as you'll get the same Spartan treatment as on its siblings. True to the spirit of Ducati's SuperSports, the 800 is an excellent choice for those who want to confirm their riding in the tradition of hardcore sport.
this sports bike is available with different combinations of peripherals. It's available with or without fairing, just a matter of taste. There's also a Sport version, with Marzocchi forks instead of Showa, Boge amorto instead of Sachs, 3-spoke wheels (5 on the SS) and a steel swingarm when the SS prefers aluminum.

more than enough performance, you can hit 200 on the nose
a word of advice: change the crappy tires on the first few miles like mine - I've got Viper tires and it's a dream - and then put on racing pads. And take the time to adjust the suspension to find the right feel
What a chassis and what a nice engine
Rating : 5/5 Respond to dje
It's very nice at any speed because it picks up quickly and you're not afraid to wring out the grip (compared to the 1000)
I find it very homogeneous and, in the end, very well adapted to the road. The other sports bikes are becoming more and more reserved for the track
what's more, it's still very affordable to run and buy (serviced every 10,000 miles, fair price for the equipment and fuel consumption barely over 6l)
it can be demanding on a daily basis, but I'm always smiling when I ride it
