presentation of the Multistrada 1200 2011

what a beast this 1200 Multistrada is. New design, a complete departure from the old one, new frame with tubular steel trellis connected to plates (as on the new-generation monsterradial braking system, new rims, dual exhaust outlets in a low position to optimize weight distribution, and last but not least, the 1198 superbike engine.

gone is the air-cooled twin, replaced by Ducati's most modern and technologically advanced powerplant. The heart of the 1200 Multistrada is the engine of the sportiest Bolognese ever. That's impressive enough, but the rest leaves you breathless. The engine has been tuned to boost its mid-range availability, but we never expected it to produce so much power: 150 hp !!!! This is the first trail bike to offer the same power-to-weight ratio as a 1st-generation R1. Powerful and growling, the twin responds without hesitation and carries you away like a missile. It's almost as if this trail bike wanted to offer Troy Bayliss the same sensations as when he rode SBK's 1198. In its version equipped with self-adjusting suspension (depending on the riding mode selected), the Multistrada offers real sporting pleasure, true to the Ducati identity. It pushes with vigor, it bangs down, it brakes with gusto, and it doesn't hesitate to adopt an excited riding style. For your information, the Pirelli Scorpion tires developed for it are rated for 270 km/h.

the real strength of this 1200 version of the Multistrada is its increased versatility, and its position at the top end of the market. Easy to ride, quite comfortable (especially in the appropriate electronic mode), the machine bends to the task in hand with great conviction. Select one of the four modes (Sport - Touring - Urban - Enduro) and take full advantage of the Multi 1200's capabilities. Far from being a commercial gimmick, the mode selector controls both suspension settings and electronic engine management, with real differences in behavior. Whether you're in the mood for a ride or an adventure, the Ducat' adapts. But don't try to climb special KTM EXC trails with Enduro mode engaged. The Italian trail bike isn't really built for it.

a hypersport heart, a NASA nervous system. The 1200 Multistrada has taken a big bath in electronics. The face of the dashboard alone tells you the high level of technology on board. It's almost worse than a 2D handset used in MotoGP.
The equipment is also very pleasant, more like a German sedan than a car from Turin. Suspension is mode-adaptive and can be fine-tuned via the on-board console. Other features include ABS, traction control, keyless ignition, heated grips and an adjustable windscreen - although some of these are only available on top-of-the-range versions. The S version is equipped with Öhlins, and the S Touring adds a luggage kit.

French Model 2011
I've only had this bike for a few weeks now and I find its roadholding and sportiness truly mind-blowing. A small downside is the control for changing the riding mode, which is done by only using the blinker, otherwise it's RAS Rating : 5/5
Mouai... bof, bof, bof. I owned one in 2010/2012, Termignoni kit, so 160hp. Impressive power, great bike (all-carbon option) but that's it. Very fragile engine, porous cylinder heads changed in the course of maintenance at astronomical cost (belts), road holding just average and certainly not a motorcycle for the hardcore rider that I am. As you can see, Ducati is finished for me, but for those who only go out on Sundays to ride from one café terrace to another, this is the bike for you Rating : 2/5

I love the pikes peak 2012 model. The bike of my dreams.in another life maybe. Rating : 5/5
French jefounet Model 2010
I ride a BMW, but seeing this beast I'd be tempted to make the switch, obviously after a test ride and comparison. While I'm waiting for my test ride, I'd like to take my hat off to Ducati's designer for the aesthetics of this bike, which is far more successful than the previous model. Rating : 5/5
French Cissous Model 2010
A really versatile bike that adapts to the road, the 4 modes are really great, it changes the bike's behavior, I tried it, I adopted it, I'm really not disappointed, on top of that the engine is really there! even if in France we're limited. Bravo to Ducati. By the way, we've created a forum dedicated to the Ducati Multistrada 1200 => http://www.multistrada1200.fr Rating : 5/5
