Touring

Are America's roads ready? Long or immense, wide or lost, from one end of the county or the country to the other, they'll all be surprised by the approach of the new Street Glide. A must-have bagger and one of the most popular models in the Harley-Davidson range, it has now entered the 21st century with a striking evolution of its very being.

Its new face is the best illustration of this. The famous Batwing is changing dramatically. Introduced last year on the exclusive CVO Street Glide, it's starting to win over a wider audience. It brings dynamism and technological highlighting to a Harley Tourer. Its wind-tunnel-engineered shape reduces turbulence on the helmet by 60%, while its luminous eyelashes arouse both curiosity and amazement at night. UFO atmosphere guaranteed.

As always at MoCO, the best is at the center of the bike. The Street Glide is now powered by version 117 of the Milwaukee Eight. A huge twin-cylinder, almost the biggest in the range, and which not so long ago officiated in CVOs. At 1923 cm3, it's not afraid of the bike's weight or lack of breath. Its 175 Nm allow it to rev up with a hell of a lot of vigor, whatever the moment or the mood. This M8 also pumps out 107 hp at 5,020 rpm, cools its cylinder heads with water and makes long-distance rides a breeze.

The new Street Glide replaces two previous models: the ST and the Special. It takes the engine from the former (adding a few watts) and replaces the hot-rod cases of the latter with more conventional components. A great deal of hard work has reduced the weight by 8 kilos. Technically, the chassis is based on a steel frame, a large 49 mm fork, preload-adjustable shocks and a belt final drive. A home-made recipe that rarely changes, which is not the case for the on-board electronics.

When Harley presented its CVO Road Glide and CVO Street Glide in 2023, it opened the floodgates to a heavy dose of technology for its Tourers. The aim is to offer up-to-the-minute solutions and counter Indian, which is also seriously pricking up its models. The Street is equipped with the very latest Skyline infotainment system, featuring a huge 312 mm color TFT screen - even larger than those found on the big BMW models (K 1600 GTL or R 18 Transcontinental, for example). The dashboard concentrates all the information including the dials, is customizable, offers 3 display themes and enables all kinds of entertainment: 200 watts of sound, GPS navigation, radio, playlists via USB, SD card or smartphone, hands-free phone, intercom, voice recognition, Bluetooth and Driving Modes.

Harley-Davidson 1920 Street Glide FLHX yes, that's right, the Grand American Touring is entitled to several "driving temperaments". Four Driving Modes are installed on the Street Glide (Road / Sport / Rain / Customizable), featuring power level, engine braking, cornering ABS and angle-responsive traction control. The Street Glide also offers tire pressure monitoring and hill-start assist.

With all these improvements, both cosmetic and technical, the Street Glide 117ci enters a new era. CVO have boldly opened the way for the entire Touring range to offer a stronger driving experience. And even after all this, the Street Glide is still recognizable at first glance - except that eyes will widen.

Tete de fourche Batwing de la Harley-Davidson Street Glide

Three generations of Batwing. While the Rushmore project (middle) subtly redesigned the original fork head (left), the latest version is much more emancipated, even if it means shocking purists.

the different riding modes of the Harley-Davidson 117 Street GLide :

- Road mode : designed for everyday use, the "road" mode offers balanced performance. This mode offers a less aggressive throttle response and less engine power in the mid-range than "Sport" mode, with a higher level of C-ABS and C-TCS intervention.
- Sport mode: Sport mode can maximize the rider's connection to the bike. He can experience the bike's full performance potential directly and precisely, with full power and the fastest throttle response. C-TCS is set to its lowest intervention level and engine braking is increased.
- Rain mode: throttle response and power output are programmed to significantly limit the rate of acceleration, engine braking is limited and the highest levels of C-ABS and C-TCS intervention are selected.
- Custom Modes: To create a custom mode, the driver uses the touchscreen to select his or her combined preferences for engine torque distribution characteristics, engine braking, throttle response and C-TCS and C-ABS intervention, within specific ranges.

French Model 2025
I've just tried the Street Glide 2024. Like Tchatch_68, I find it incredibly light. Having an R18B also helps you feel at ease. The buttons don't bother me, I haven't touched them :-) I think it's going to be my future bike; my R18B is company and retirement awaits... yesssss Rating : 4/5
French Tchatch_68 Model 2024
I was able to try out this bike for 10 km, with my passenger. There were good things and not-so-good things. The good was the engine and the feeling of lightness. The engine is really very pleasant. It's punchy and picks up incredibly well, even at low revs. The sensation of lightness is amazing. I feel like the center of gravity is lower than my 2022 Road King 107! The bad thing for me is the dashboard with all those buttons. I'm not used to them. And all those buttons on the com800odos! It looks like a fighter jet. The other bad point was felt by my passenger: the sissy-bar backrest is uncomfortable. She's used to the snug Harley top case. It's still a very good bike, but I'm keeping my RK . Happy riding. Rating : 4/5
