in the Softail range, this Heritage is the one best suited to cutting kilometers. In addition to its typically Harley plasticity, the large windshield (which can be easily removed with a flick of the wrist) and its handsome leather saddlebags with studded trim are also very appealing. Derived from the Fat Boy, it's not surprising to find a strong resemblance. The Heritage has a number of good arguments for taking bikers along Route 66 without a care in the world. First and foremost, the new Twin Cam 88 B, a much more appreciable engine than its predecessor.

the installation of a balancer shaft has significantly reduced vibrations - the hallmark of Milwaukee engines. Purists will cringe, but that's the only reproach (and still) that can be made. This engine is generous with torque, and has a nice amount of length and power. The other thing that sets this bike apart is its comfort. A good seat, low and welcoming, better shock absorbers, we appreciate it. Braking has also improved, thanks to new 4-piston calipers. A great way to discover a taste of America.

Still in great shape, I signed up for the HOG,
so 2026, a lot more miles.
The front brake isn't great, though.

I changed the shocks for progressive ones. Much better. The braking and the fault. I don't agree about fuel consumption. I drive cool. I cruise at 120 on the highway. I do less than 6 liters to 100 Rating : 5/5
French CRIS 83 Model 2000
Bought new in August 2000, since then I've done 139,000 km of routine maintenance. Super bike for me, no electronics except ignition, for nothing in the world would I change it because I don't like injection engines. Why change if you're satisfied? Rating : 4/5

Since June 2000, I'm at 30,000 km, never a problem, a real pleasure. The engine is a real gem. Rating : 5/5
Une Harley 1450 Softail Heritage en A2 ?
French cowboy88600 Model 2003
just a small question is this beautiful bike can be bridled for an A2 model 2003 thank you
Rating : 5/5
French X-Ray_Fox
Hi, I'm a little late so I don't know if you got the answer to your question, but on the "sportster" forum, someone had a list of all the HD models that can be clamped in A2. I didn't see this one, but it would be best to ask around at garages (and not just HD).

For my part, I had a hard time getting a simple 2005 883R clamped because it was a carbureted model and already in Stage 1, so HD didn't want me to clamp it unless I put back the original parts, about 1700â'¬ in total, which would remove the Stage 1 clamp (and even then, they weren't sure they could find the parts they were telling me about...). And finally, I found a garage that only dealt in second-hand cars, which fitted the clamp. It cost a bit more than if I'd done it directly at HD because they had to make the part, but I got it for about 400â'¬, not 1700.

But the advice I'd give would be to find out everything you can before buying, otherwise you'll end up with a bike that can't be bridged, so you can't register it and therefore have no insurance...

I hope this helps a little.

I recently bought this 2003 softail heritage classic 1450 cm3 fuel injection and I don't regret this choice among my many Japanese motorcycles. it's night and day. once you've had a taste of this type of machine for its comfort, its noise, its chrome, its torque, its myth, etc., it's impossible to go back to anything else. happy owners of this type of motorcycle, like me. Bonne route à tous....!

great bike in every way, one small question: on the front caliper there are two screws to remove the pads I'd like to know what wrench you need thank you to all biker friends. Rating : 4/5
Hi reno,

I don't have this bike, so I don't know what screws you're talking about, but just for the record, doesn't the tool kit supplied with the bike contain this screwdriver? What about the technical manual?

If not, maybe a photo and a visit to a DIY expert will give you the information you need. But it seems to me that HD, like other manufacturers, often chooses parts that require brand-specific tools! :(

All the best.

You need to buy a set of hexagonal wrenches in inches from a good toolmaker, and if my memory serves me right, it's 3/16.
I've had a new HD since March 2003, and I'm very happy with it. I've done nearly 80,000 km with it, and it's still running like new with no problems.

Dangerous ground clearance, as it's the frame that lifts the rear wheel when the footrests touch the road. Excessive engine noise, noisy gearbox, but otherwise I like it! You realize that there's a landscape around the roads (I used to have a sports car) Rating : 5/5
French LAZCAR Model 2000
Very good bike for the open road. 35,000 km to date, zero problems. Reliability is back. I have a carbureted version, and I'm delighted with it. The only drawback may be the ground clearance, the footrests touch very quickly, and the bubble, which can be dismantled in ten seconds, has no safety features. Beware of flying... Rating : 5/5
