from 2000 to 2025A Harley whose heritage continues unabated
the Harley-Davidson Heritage Classic is one of the American manufacturer's longest-running models. This Softail arrived in 1988. And to this day, its styling has remained faithful through the decades. The Heritage has gone through several frames and a whole host of engines, without ever betraying its Classic spirit.
very faithful to the spirit of the Hydra Glide (1949), the Heritage began its career with the twin-cylinder 1340 Evolution and some sixty horsepower. This engine was to accompany it for the next ten years. Then, in 1998, it got the Twin Cam 88. Not really more powerful, but more torquey and more enjoyable. Soon enough, the Heritage received the 88B version, fitted with a balancer to reduce vibrations. We're close to the year 2000, when its presence in our database begins.
in 2007, even more displacement and torque with the Twin Cam 96B. The 1,584 cm3 engine delivers 70 hp and pleasant cruising. ABS arrives in 2011, and the Twin Cam goes from strength to strength the following year. Nicknamed 103, it produces 81 hp and over 13 mkg of torque. The standards would later slow it down considerably, but from 2016 onwards, this engine was upgraded to High Output, which allowed it to regain a comfortable level of power.
the Heritage Classic will have spent 20 years with the Twin Cam. But in 2018, everything changes: a new, lighter and stiffer frame, a more efficient Showa fork and, above all, the very modern Milwaukee Eight engine block - all under an almost identical design, with the exception of a partly black-tinted windscreen. It will be available in two versions: 107 ci or 114 ci. Performance takes a leap forward, while vibrations are greatly reduced. The 107 version (1745 cm3) will remain in the catalog for 3 years, while the 114 ci model (1870 cm3) continues to make steady progress.
