presentation of the 1746 ULTRA LIMITED LOW FLHTKL 2017
The uLtra Limited Low is one of the first bikes in the range to receive the all-new Milwaukee Eight engine. While the entire Touring range benefits from this for 2017, not all models are supplied with the same opus. For the Low, it will be the liquid-cooled version. For all that, the "cooled" engine won't be the main topic of discussion and road enjoyment. On the engine side, the tasting will take place with this new displacement: 1746 cm3 of torque, fatness and breath. With 4 valves and 2 spark plugs per cylinder, faster acceleration and 1.5 mkg more torque, the Harley M8 leaves the venerable Twin Cam far behind. Consider that its maximum torque reaches 15.5 mkg on the Limited Low; the previous version claimed "only" 14 mkg. This 107 spits out almost as much power as the mills of the former CVO 110 range. With its balancing arm, this block is said to reduce idle vibrations by 75%... but retains all the charm and feel of an H-D engine. To find out more about the Milwaukee Eight engine, click here ->.
with this ninth-generation twin, Touring Harleys are feeling the wind in their sails. The 2017 vintage brings a few other improvements, less spectacular but just as appreciable on the road. The fork features Showa SDBW technology for enhanced performance and consistent damping. The rear amortos offer simplified preload adjustment. Once set, no further adjustment is required. Harley thus abandons a long history of penumatic combinations in favor of an emulsion system.
The previous improvements should not be overshadowed. Those of the Rushmore project, which enabled the Ultra Limited road vessel to gain in motorization, comfort and ride quality. A little was left over to create a LOW version. In other words, a Limited that's just as well equipped, but more ergonomic and, above all, more accessible. The main difference? A seat height reduced from 740 to 685 mm. But that's not all, as Harley has gone one step further in its quest to make life easier for riders of modest stature.

In addition to the seat, the entire machine has been lowered, with suspensions lowered by 25 mm. The handlebars have been moved 5 cm closer to the rider. One might conclude that half a decimeter isn't much... You'll think of it when you need to change a light bulb on the ceiling and you're 5 cm short of reaching it. Then there are the little details that don't seem so at first glance, but which we appreciate on a daily basis: narrower transmission and clutch housings, smaller handlebars, a clutch that requires less effort, retractable passenger footrests and a modified kickstand for easier grabbing. The Low's windscreen has been slightly scaled down, the company following a simple equation: reduced height = reduced air depression = reduced turbulence.
the Limited Low thus appeals to a clientele previously intimidated by such a liner, while benefiting from all the Rushmore improvements. To sum up: the American model is equipped with the all-new 107 ci twin, the BOOM! Box 6.5 GT multimedia station with large touchscreen, 100-watt sound system and GPS; a premium Tour-Pak and luggage kit to carry your wife and belongings; Reflex combined braking; Daymaker LED headlights; and the practical One-touch opening system. The Limited also features HD-Smart touchless starting, a top-of-the-range finish with a choice of two-tone paint, revised suspension, cruise control, heated grips, and much more.
If the Limited loses altitude in this Low definition, the price doesn't follow the trend. A few hundred euros more are required. But they're anecdotal given the asking price for this ostentatious Touring.
